I know from just doing this, that if I put two points of experimentation into a line and get an amazing success, I get an extra 1% for each point used (2). I am just wondering if this does work for using a lot more points at once, and does it decrease the likelihood of hitting an amazing success the more points you use at once? Any info on this is appreciated

yes and yes, more points the more risk so more chance of not getting an amazing success

If you are doing layers I suggest putting in as many as you can at once. That way, even if the chance of success is lowered, when you do succeed you will have the best possible layer. It's well worth it for stun in particular.

And save you a lot of factory time to boot.

big yes. In fact, On segments, I have enough resources that I craft until I get at least a double amazing success on my experiments. I'll put fill up the quality bar and run it until I get an amazing success, and then fill up the rest of the quality bar again and dump the rest in the durability bar. I look for an amazing success here, too. then I usually have 1 pt left over (12 pt smith here), and so drop 1 more into the durability. Don't have to have an amazing success there, a great success will do. I've found that if you're willing to pound on these segments until they're absolutely *perfect* (as in double or triple amazing successes on large experiment throws), your armor will greatly benefit.
