ok first up im not an armour smith, but i have read a fair bit about it and know more or less how it all works.

ive been puzzling for the last few days about comp armour, when i go shopping for it i like low ham stuff and a decent base....im not particularly bothered about what is in the special protection as long as kinetic has a decent resist special or otherwise. also im not concered about stun at all as i pve a lot and pvp maybe once a month if theres a decent scrap in town ill join in but mainly for the giggle.

my line of thinking was why dont as make light comp and slice it to get higher base, which got me looking thru all the trade forums to see what was about ....i know on my server 3 or 4 good as that all do a 80/ elec/ 80 kinetic/71 base with pritty good hams....and a theres a couple that go for even lower ham and lower the base a little.....great for killing animals in but if the odd npc joins in not so hot.

looking around other forums ive seen pritty much every kinda comp you could throw a stick at then i spotted one that was slightly difference......this guy had done 80 electric and 71 base without adding to the specials at all......hams looked nice too, lower than the other stuff in his range which looked about the same as everyone elses.

this bit of reading brings me to a couple of question before i go pestering my servers smiths to make something for me.

im guessing this is done with electric layers.....do they have a lower ham than other layers? or are all the kinds of layers about the same ham?

what kinda base is needed to get a decent chance ofa slice hitting 80% without wasting to many peices...im thinking 70% but not sure why.

what else could be used to boost base resist and keep ham low....ive got this hair brained idea of making comp armour with a ris layer in each segment with this specifically in mind....have i lost the plot???? i can see myself grinding as just to meddle with this!!!

another side note a smith might want to try.......im calling it nitch armour....specifically targeted at grenade grinders......80% kinetic 80% blast and screw the base as its gonna be disposable armour anyway...make the ham light. armour made just for killing giant baz nitches with grenades.

ideas...thoughts...or tell me im mad!!

Electric sucks to make. You would get luck to sell half your run, and that is only if you get the base sliced above 80%. Everyone wants to make sure they have atleast 80% kinetic protection. The encum sliced suits would sit for months.

I am currently working to make a comp set with RIS layers. Only problem with that, you have to factory run the layers, which means you need large sets of Peko Peko feathers. This is not fun and I started this project, but can not force myself to finish it, got too many critical failures that just kept screwing me over.

I have seen the blast armor before. Just another way of attempting to get kinetic above 80%. See people do this with cold and other layer types. Most prob sell the encum stuff real real slow though.

You should try AS. Lots of fun, some times to the point you want to pull your hair out

I'm selling one type of armor for 6 months and ppl coming for it every day. It's 4% stun80% el/ 68-70 base ( I started from 66% base) pre-sliced up to 90% , and MEDIUM HAM. You can make 2 electric layers not so heavy- you just max base andput some points on enc as you hit 80% el anyway. Imake 4% stun layer the same way, so mind enc on helmet is under 300 and health on chest plate 250, Good for hight base armor, and I sell it for a good money.

Enc sliced armor sells like crasy - just be generous and sell it really cheap. New players really like it, 70% composite lives much longer than 70% ubese.

80% Blast armor -easy to make but tooo heavy, and 90% blast is better anyway

The only way you'd sell that armor is because it has the stun layer in it. If you took it out, bet you would barely sell any of the encum sliced stuff.

ooo good caught someones attention!!!!

thats how i was thinking, keep everything in the base and slice it up to a decent level.......the kinetic will be included in that....would it be a case of 3 electric layers to do it? would be well chuffed with 80 electric and 80+ base slice and decent hams.

arrggg i can sence a grind in the near future

how did the stats on the ris comp turn out so far? how many ris layers you going for 1 or all 3? mmm how about 1 ris layer made to reduce the hams and also boost base a little, a ns layer to boose the base and drop the ham a little and an electric layer...........too much to play with!!!

For the electric armor, you would throw all points into base and the rest into encum when making the layer.

I still haven't finished the comp armor with RIS layers. Going to be using 2 RIS layers and 1 electric layer or NS layer and also NS shards. I've been collecting some great shards just for this. Should have HAM all under 100, maybe even 50 if I do it right. Hoping for 0 though.....

i made a run of 80% electric, 70% base composite a month or so ago. takes a 28% effect slice to get it to 90% base, although pretty much any effect slice will still give you a very good set of pve armor. it sold ok, not near as well as any of my other armor types though, so i haven't gotten around to making another run of it yet.

Ahhh, a subject I'm an expert at. I've been making 5% stun 80% elelctric 70% base forabout six months now. Funny how people's demand for armor changes. Six months ago people were going crazy for 70% ubese with 19k condition. Now they just laugh at 70% kinetic Comp with 36k condition. Anyways, I've been making this type of armor for a very long time and the HAM on 5% stun 80% electric 90% base is about 275-280 for me. To an average player who kills the typical mob with 10k HAM this is over kill. But, when you talk to ones who hunt high end MOB's with 100k HAM and up 90% base is a life saver. Because as you tank high end stuff they tend to dizzy and you spend alot of time on your back. Well, 80% kinetic would be very iffy in this situation. But with 90% kinetic you can lay on your back for 10 seconds and not worry about dying.

As for crafting the layers the problem with electric layers was alway been silicalastic ore's SR gate. I think it's arround 600. But, with the new Shipwright resource silicalastic ore is not gated. Therefore it's possible to get the base up to 72-73 base which only takes about 25% effective slice to get 90% base and with the lowest effective slice of 11% you still get 80% base. The encubrance sliced pcs are great for faction farming and xp grinding on Dantooine. The encumbrance sliced pcs takes a very long time to sell but they do eventually all sell. I like to throw some on the bazzar for fun. But the mini suit of 90% base sells for 2 mil easy.

Hey, my comp armor still sells well at 36k condition

Anyways, I load 80% kinetic on the vendor and what I actually custom make for myself is 13% stun 90% base suits. I love this stuff for NS hunting, that 90% kinetic comes in handy.

I made a lot 4% stun80% el/ hight base armor using NS stuff. Some peaces get 90% slice and this is brilliantlow HAM armor really -if you want something special.

I think R.I.S. layers have too low base . On Infinity we don't have such good res as older servers, andIt'shard to get hight base here, so 5%-6%-7% NS layers and good NS shards!!!

I always use at least 4% stun - it makes big difference .
