Ok
gottaquestion.........
Im want to get to 12pt Armorsmith.........so to get the extra exp points, i have to get CA's into some clothes (and wear them while crafting), right?.......
If so......does that mean i have to buy 20+ clothing attachments to put into an outfit to wear when crafting?....
And also......can i only add CA's to clothing that has 'Sockets Available'?......
thanks,

Correct.

Yep. You don't have to buy them per se. You can loot them as well. You can get +1 tapes in various POI spawn containers(at least ones that don't have broken containers.) That will give you a good way to start. I had only +6 experimentation for a full year because I was always too cheap to buy the expensive tapes. Stormtroopers and other mid-level NPCs drop +3 to +6 tapes. I scored a +5 experimentation tape off a stormtrooper, so that kicked me up to+11 on experimentation! Thanks to a very generous citizen ofour city, and the retirement of her armorsmith friend, I am allowed to use their old experimentationclothes giving making me afull 12 pointer (after a year and a half.) You probably already know how expensive experimentation tapes can get, but there are other methods beside forking out the credits.
And also......can i only add CA's to clothing that has 'Sockets Available'?......
Correct. I would recommend you contact a master tailor and ask them to manufacture a suit of clothes. Unless you are a wookie or trandoshian, you probably want a hat, shirt, jacket/vest, gloves, bandolieer, belt, pants, and shoes. You want 4 available sockets. There is a couple reasons for this.
First, you might as well make a whole armor crafting suit. This means getting armor assembly tapes as well. I noticed that I seem to get alot more sockets in my armor after having +20 armor assembly. Also you can stick armor repair/repair tapes into your suit as well.
Secondly, the way SEAs (also called AA/CA/"tapes") work is extraordinarily complicated. Say you looted a really nice tape, but it's +4 annoyingly worthless skill and +2 armor experimentation. You place this tape into a shirt and only the highest modifer will stick, so instead of a +2 armor experimentation shirt, you now have a +4 annoyingly worthless skill shirt. But there is, I am pretty sure unless the rules have changed, a way around this. You find a +5 annoying worthless skill tape and place it in the shirt (remember we're using a 4 socket shirt so we still got room for 3 more modifiers/SEAs.) Now it's a +5 annoying worthless skill tape shirt. Now we can put our +4 annoyingly worthless skill tape/+2 armor experimentation tape into into the shirt. Since it is already +5 annoying worthless skill, it will allow the +2 armor experimentation modifier to "stick". Sounds confusing, huh? It is. Now you still got room for 2 more tapes in your shirt.
Additional Clarification Note: Only the highest modifier on a SEA will "stick", unless it is placed in an item that already has a higher modifier (on the same skill), then the 2nd highest modifier will stick. You can't add another tape to an item that has no available sockets, thus we want 4 socket clothes for our crafting outfit.
I might as well go on about the SEAs. Don't hope to combine modifiers. That is, you have two +1 armor experimention tapes, and want to use them. Put them in two seperate clothing items (that's why I says make 8 pieces for your crafting outfit.) If you put one into a shirt, then put the other into the same shirt, it will still only be a +1 armor experimentation shirt.
Also, if you have a tape with say +2 pistol speed and +2 armor experimentation, only one modifier will "stick" in the shirt. In the case of a tie, it is the one listed alphabetically first. So this is one small benifit of armor tapes, only a couple things are alphabetically first.
Finally, as an armorsmith you will not find an armorsmith crafters apron. They just don't exist.
I hope this helps. Good luck.

If anyone is still checking this thread,
i got another question,
What are Biological Components?....and are they important to put in when crafting?
And the slot for Segment enhancement during the crafting, thats just for adding AA's right?
thanks,

These are enhancements crafted by bio-engineers, which are then put into Synthetic Cloth (iirc) - these don't provide any benefit to armour, so don't worry about them.

No, that's for things such as Janta Hides and Nightsister Armour Shards - you'll need to get sets of more than 2 for these to be useful for anything that needs more than one segment to craft in the final combine.
Armour Attachments go into the sockets you see listed on the final item (ie. 4 socket Mabari Belt etc.).

Another handy thing to remember, most humanoids can wear 8 items:
Hat
Gloves
Shirt
Pants
Jacket
Boots
Belt
Bandolier
So if you want a 12 point outfit with the lowest valued (i.e. cheapest) CAs you can find, you have to average +2.5 per CA. Wookiees can wear even less clothing (4 or 5 items?) and I'm not sure about Ithorians.
And there's no "armorsmith apron"... that's a big part of why it's hard to get to 12 point as an armorsmith.
