Anyone else out there feeling a bit left out with the new loot popping up in the Geonosian Dungeon? Weaponsmiths get 2 brand new weapons and a bunch of new cool components. What did the poor armorsmith get? Some hides for padded armor and a new schematic for an already useless armor. Way to go!!!! Not to mention you have to be some kind of combat god to get through the place. The place looks like a cub scout jamboree with all the campers there. I for one am a little disapointed in the drops for us Armorsmiths.

I wouldn't feel left out. The Geonosian blaster pretty much made the tangl pistol obsolete, and since it's a looted weapon that's money straight out of the WS's pockets. The schematics (DXR6b and scythe) seem exciting at first, but on my main server (Ahazi) these schematics and components are either being taken to the WS's for personal use or sold for some serious money.

It may seem stale to keep cranking out the same armor as always, but I'd rather not become dependent on loot components for some of the better items, or in the case of the sonic blaster vs. tangle, have an entire product rendered obsolete.

I don't feel left out at all. I'm a Master Weaponsmith and Master Armorsmith and as an Armorsmith I feel that we are a very strong profession and we already make some great stuff and we're paid extremely well to make it. There are plenty of other professions in dire need of some love. I can be live with Armorsmith as it is for a while.

I think a lot of our frustration stems from a lack of variety. I mean Weaponsmiths have a large number of items to make. Some are better than others of course, and some are hardly made at all, but thereare certifications for weapons, so there is some kind of market for most of them no matter how small.

We have lots of schematics, but really only9 different kinds of armor. Tantel is bugged. RIS is bugged/impossible. PSGs are bugged. The only real armor that sells is Composite and Ubese. Chitin is a distant 3rd. That severely cuts down on our variety.

I think that's most of it. We just want more variety. I think we need an armor overhaul. But then again... overall... even with all this, we are working much better than most.

I agree with starch...I make 2 types of armor...Composite and Ubese...I made my first suit of padded yesterday in about 2 months of being an AS. It was just for someone to wear around for looks. We definately need more variety. Either that or make each individual armor have a unique purpose compared to other armors. As of right now, Composite is the overall total armor in regards to resists. No one cares about HAM costs anymore. 6k for a full set of buffs is cheap enough to afford. Once you are buffed keep the armor on even after they run out. NO problem!!

Armor Certs would be sooo cool. Even if the stats were the same, imagine having riflemen wear a different armor than pistoleer than TKM. Just like weapons, you couldn't put on the pieces unless you were up toat least Novice.....even a crafter armor would be nice.

Then imagine if these were tailored to have specific benefits and disadvangages for that profession. Low Mind-HAM for riflemen, but more vunerabilities....for example. There is so much possibility, I guess we shouldn't complain, since we basically work, but with that much potential, it is hard to watch nothing get done.

Thats the key isn't it... I think thats what so many of us latched on to. Its hard not to see that this game is just dripping and oozing buckets of potential. SWG is hemmoraging potential. The floor is covered with it... its running out the door anddown the hall.

I just hope I don't get burnt out before that potential is lived up to. =/

the whole armor cert deal..

doesnt that just imply custom order?

cuz i can make a low ham suit with consiquence of vuln on my own.

Just because the devs don't give us a "tailored for riflemen" (as an example) armor type doesn't mean we can't make our own. It would be better if we could choose which aspect of the encumbrance to experiment on, but you can forgo hitting ubah with the resists and take down the encumbrance a bit.

Jery,

Although you are right that you could experiment for HAM to make 'custom' rifleman armor. You can't determine which HAM stat gets lowered as the previous poster said. as far as the potential of this idea goes. imagine that you have a rifleman suit, which has 400/400/100 ham costs. This would allow them to use more specials, and keep their unhealable mind stat higher....

the trade off. say this suit has 2 or 3 vunerablities.Make it heat, stun, and acid. Now, give melee weapons with these attacks, and the Rifleman is vunerable to them.

Wait, but that would make the Melee classes too strong. Swordsmen could have higher Action Armor, as well as a vunerability to one of the carbine weapons. making that their disadvantage.

It woudl take some time, but it could be a great system if done smartly.

As it stands....Composite has no measurable downside. Sure the HAM cost is really high....except even a light Comp suit has too high a HAM cost to be worn anyway, meaning that just to wear it, you need to be buffed. Now, with everyone buffed, the HAM isnt' a problem anymore, adn it's only downside is the Stun resist. Thus, the Riflemen are 'overpowered' issue.
