-I believe this was posted previously during development (when the first images of Stormtroopers made the scene) and the post was ignored.

-I also did not know where else to place this, but since this was the closest forum relating to armor I felt perhaps some of the locals here may see it and perhaps offer more insight or support for the correction.

Problem:
It seems that the art designers used incorrect reference photos when designing the Stormtrooper belt. Quite simply, THEY LEFT OUT THE -DETONATOR CANISTER-. They went as far as modeling the circuitry on the chest of a Flight Suit Helmet, the Grenades on a grenadier belt, the pipe detail on a Tech-Pack backpack. Yet they forget something as simple as the detonator canister that is standard issue to ALL stormtroopers and worn on the belt. They had them in ANH, ESB, and ROTJ.

-The canister is seen on the back of the belt.

This shot taken in 1997 of another real Hero Suit. This was during the re-release Special Edition.

-Note canister and weapon holster. I know that there are no weapon holsters in SWG, I can live with that.

It seems that the art designers used reference photos of Troopers without canisters. These where photos of promotional performers that were not given the canisters in fear that fans may remove them/steal them. The same goes for stormtrooper weapon holsters.

The following shoes images of what I believe where the type and/or the reference photos they used. These are in error.

Promotional performer with Real Stunt suit.

-Note lack of Canister. These where not given to them by costume departments in fear that fans may take them. A performer cannot see well through the helmet to note if someone were to sneak behind them and take the canister.

Another original costume without canister.

The following are images of LucasArts very own games. This further exemplifies the oversight.

-Jedi Knight (JK: Darkforces II) had them. But due to the low quality of the models (impressive for its time) they donot show up well in sreenshots. I was not able to find quality screenshots.

"The standard trooper helmet features automatic polarized lenses. Their utility belts feature concentrated rations, emergency batteries, a miniature thermal detonator and a spare comlink."

-Now before you shoot the post down with the excuse of "Come on, we have real bugs and issues to be bothered by something so minor", understand that like you, each player his own reason to play the game and partake in the SWG multiverse. I got the game/account and played to RP a Stormtrooper. No I didn't want to be a Jedi, or weaponsmith, or droid engineer. My fun is in the factional missions, GCW, etc. And like many of you that are bothered by belts that orbit about the waist, armor/clothes that pokes through the avatar, I am bothered by this big oversight in authenticity/continuity by the very makers.
Lucasarts of all people. Even in their prior releases; Darkforces, Jedi Knight (MoTS, JKII, and JK Academy) accurate stormtrooper/iconic character modeling was there.

It is these details that for me immerse me in the game. I can understand them wanting to "save" resources. That doesn't explain how detailed a Dark Trooper is, or why Scout Trooper armor belts HAVE THE DETONATOR on them! (Visit Bestine or any location with a Scout Trooper, you will notice he has a standard issue Detonator on his back, the way it was ment to be).

-Other things I wonder, but obviously may be too much to ask:
1) Why no Scouts on Speederbikes? Perhaps we may see this in the future?
2) Why no Sandtroopers with their heafty backpacks?
http://www.thedentedhelmet.com/davin/images/Backpack_03.jpg
http://www.thedentedhelmet.com/davin/images/Publicity_Roadblock_03.jpg
-note how large and bulky these packs are. The current "military pack" doesn't cut it.
3) No sandtroopers on dewbacks.
I'm sure these things are probably tech issues that may be resolved in Star Wars Online 2. But still I feel some of that immersiveness, at least for me was somewhat compromised.

-I also did not know where else to place this, but since this was the closest forum relating to armor/tailoring I felt perhaps some of the locals here may see it and perhaps offer more insight or support for the correction. I was also hoping to perhaps get more attention to this mater. I also posted this message in the Armor forum.

The last poster obviously has got nothing interesting to add so ignore. I think you have a very valid point and congrats on doing your homework. Unfortunately as u rightly acknowledge there are way to many bugs in the mechanics of the game to make this warrant any form of change , nice post though all the same.
