Thread: Two Items of Concern RIS Armor and Armor Coloring

I am an aspiring armorsmith and have two concerns with the profession as it stands.

1.) RIS Armor - before starting my second character, I spent a lot of time gathering the RIS components (unfortunately, no GDK scale after 39 kills). The stats on this armor are pathetic for the trouble necessary to get it. If we were to equate the resources and components and schematics to a credit amount, this armor is worth anywhere from 50-75 million credits a set. For what, mediocre composite with low encumberances. My suggestion to the devs - make this the only medium armor in the game!!!! Because of the difficulty in acquiring the parts, you might have 5-7 full suits per server and the people that have them, certainly would have earned the right to where them!!!

2.) Armor Coloring- Why is it that armor can be colored at any time by the end user and without any special tool, but vehicles and droids require a special tool to do this. This eliminates a market for armorsmiths. People like style, this can be seen by the time and money that people spend on the appearance of their chararcters, verhicles, and homes. My suggestion to the devs - either require a armor coloring tool for the end user or eliminate the coloring tool for droids and vehicles. I would like to think that my armorsmith could make a living by creating appealing armor combinations, but as it is anyone can change the color, thereby eliminating this part of the market.

Just my 4 cents!!!

I personally like the color change option on composite saves me a ton of work stocking wise, my vote is leave it the way it stands

Actually, I disagree.

I think that the way you can color composite for free reduces work for us, it still should require a tool like used for vehicles.

And, by the way PootieT,

the user can only color composite as far as I know. it was implemented when the colors got whacked with a patch. It just wasn't removed after 2 weeks as they said it would. I hope they include a customization tool for armor as they did for vehicles. They should do the same for droids instead of having to go to a DE to do it (I think that's how it works)

forget the tool i got enough crap to make..

As for aeasy way to do it, very simple. Set up a color station in the NPC city's i would personally like to see all colorable things done at these places..

you open a menu like the insurance menu.. you get a list of items in your pack that are colorable and you pick one, pay a fee and then get the option to the color palete to change it.

SOE gets a money sink that they desperatly need, armorers, artisans, droid enginers can spend there time having variety in inventory, acid layered ubese, stun+composite, dual kenetic padded, heat+acid padded,., ect and have happy customers getting the color they want. I porposely left tailors out, color is the only way they get tohave a selection besides bio..

Actually, I like the idea of the coloring tool and would like it to work on ALL types of armor and only be usable by a Master Armorsmith.

RIS is semi-fixed. If you use the Interwoven RIS Segment schematic from the geo cave, you get pretty nice results. The main downside still is its vuln to acid and stun. What needs to be done is for Composite Armor to be nerfed. I can make 90% all stats composite that is NOT vulnerable to stun easier than getting even 1 piece of RIS. Even if RIS was 90% ALL stats, it would still not be worth the trouble with Elite Composite available at such high resists.

First complete RIS set made for myself on Aug 1, 2004 with stats of approx 75% Kinetic/4% Stun/5% Acid/65% Base/vuln to Lightsaber. (unsliced)

I don't want an armor coling kit, I like the way it is right now very much. Its cool to be able to color my armor any way I like any time I like. I don't want a coloring kit, its just more work for little reward. Selling the armor itself is much more profitable than selling some bit item like a coloring kit. I don't want the ability to be restricted to armorsmiths only either, that would just be a titanic pain.

I like the idea of the coloring tool but not making them. I have enough things to do. Let it be a master artisan item.

Then don't make them, let someone who's willing to take the market (like me) make them.

If coloring after assembly must stay in (this free sh** has got to go) then it should be an AS made tool.. and due to the variety in armor, there should be a different tool for each armor type, and each tool should come with enough charges to do one full suit of armor (composite - 9 charges, padded - 18 charges{9 pieces, 2 colors each})

should be low-resource, no sub-component items that are easy to crank thru a equipment factory. Then those who want to mass-produce their armor, can just throw one in with their bundle of armor so the buyer can choose their own color.

If there was an Armor coloring tool it should be able to be used to change the color of any armor... not just comp

I like the idea, but it should be down the list in terms of priority. So shouldRIS. Priority should be the things that affect the mostpeople in the largest way. PSG's and Tantel should be the main priority. Wookie armor is good. Armor hole next....then this kind of stuff.

Anyway, for ideas Make it a novice armorsmithitem, make it an 18charge item, and make it easy to make. Throwing a set of100's of these into my factory would be cake, then I would be set for a while. If you don't want to make em, just don't make em. If you do, do. The novices need some other stuff to make money off of. If they could just make these, they would make good cash....make em like 200 resources, and average sell price of like 1000-2000 on the bazaar, and your novice could fund his early business.
