Long story short:
My standard segment is 32%
A guy walks up to me and hands me 34% "take a look at these, they make 70% comp"
So I know i have the best stuff, i ask him if they are enhanced with janta or something and he says no- He says he got an Amazing success on them...
My layers just came out of the factory so I pull aside 100 and start makinng segments with an amazing success...
Boom 96 layers later.... Amazing success 32% with still two experimental points left to keep raising it.
Experiment again...boom still 32%..didn't move with and spent 2 points trying to raise it. It never budged....mine seem to be capped at 32%.
The final % was 81% on the segment and it was identical to my normally successful segments..How can that be?
I did it in my house - he did it in a research city...i have 12 points, he has 12 exp points.
Does a research city make that big of a difference?

He must of used better resources than you used to make the segments. Hence the reason you capped out at 32% and he hit 34%. From what I"ve heard, experimenting in a research city reduces critical failures and gives you more amazing successes.

I asked him about that, and he took a look at my stuff and it was similiar, mine was better in a couple of fields.
He said his normal was 32% about 55 ham...mine was 32% 35 hams....unless he was lieing about the enhancements but he showed me a full suit plus gave me 8 segments so that would be real hard to do.
He just said he got an amazing success and it went to 34%.
My amazing success went to 32% but didnt go up with two boxes? thats the odd part.

I think the difference must be in the resources. And if I had to guess, I would say the difference is in your LAYERS resources. Since Base layers only say 2-3-4%, but they have decimals, there could easily be a difference there. When you experiment up your layers to high base....go until you can't go any more....(you probably know this but others will not).
If your layers go just barely up to 4%, at like 75%....you will add 4%x3 to the segment....or 12% to base. But if you experiment up to 4.66% (can't see it, but it counts) you would add 4.66%x3 or 14% to base. THat would account for the two points. Here is some math for the experimental ranges on getting extra% on triple layered comp.
experiment to:
25% - 2% (net 6% to segment)
50% - 3% (adds 9%)
75% - 4% (adds 12%)
Others for comp:
34% - 2.33% (7%)
42% - 2.66% (8%)
59% - 3.33% (10%)
67% - 3.66% (11%)
84% - 4.33% (13%)
92% - 4.66% (14%)
Remember these if you want to make the highest sum segements, you need your layers to experiment up to base of 92%, This means 920 average OQ+SR stats. If you can't get that high, it isn't worth going to 91 or 90% cause you won't see the addition in the segments, (although you might see a difference inthe final armor assembly).
This is similar in Padded, except all increase occur at .5% since it only has 2 layers, and doesn't matter for Ubese.
Oh, and another thing....does AmazingASSEMBLY result have anythingto do with this.Iknow that amazingsuccess in experimentation is only the difference between 8% adn 7% increases, but what about the assembly part?

according to a csr this is a feature of crafting (not isolated to armor). once in a rare while you will assemble something (not neccessary amazing assemble) with 2-4% more than normal. ie. your normal resis is 26% before xping on the final piece sometimes you will get 28%. The 28% not only gives you 2% extra at the start but also increase the cap by 2%-3%. ie rather than capping at 89% with the 26% (start) it will cap at 91-92%. this is how your friend got his segment higher than yours with the same materials, and good luck trying to repeat it twice in a day unless you're one of those like me that make 50 final pieces before you are satisfied to scheme it.

It has happened to me as well. I have 1 schematic of 14% Stun layers. Using the same resources I do 12% layers.

Roxanne i have seen that happen twice now. Once i finished the layer before i got great success's.. second i crit on ham when making a different layer. Instead of getting normal 1% 4 % spec layer i got 2% 5% layer to start no exp into it. I have seen this but its extremely rare.
