Quick Chestplate Degredation-The Latest up and coming game breaker. We were told by the devs that items insured would degrade by 1% on death, and 5% if not insured. Well, an issue I and others have noticed is that Chestplates are degrading FAR QUICKER lately. Case in point - my Ubese Chestplate has a condition of roughly 17787 - post death, it was 16202! I looked at the damage the chestplate absorbed, and it was nowhere near 10k! Plus the condition before I cloned was about 17342 - the reason I paid attention was because I already lost a Ubese Chestplate previously to this!
Seriously, even if armor is not redesigned right away, these bugs should seriously be aggressively attacked, and not ingnored or privately touched on. This affects every combat class in addition to the AS, and thus should be a number one priority in getting fixed.
Anyway, that is my thoughts. Feel free to comment.
Either my math is off or your math is off but the condition difference here is only 1k not 10k. 1k of damage is about what it would take to incap someone, so I don't see this as excessive.
One of the things that leads to faster chestpiece degradation (especially in Ubese) is the fact that a ubese jacket covers both the chest as well as both bicep portions. Thus it takes a greater percentage of the damage than other pieces. Thus the fast degradation. The solution is to make the condition of the ubese jackets higher to start with, so they wear out at roughly the same time as the other pieces. Agreed that this is an issue.
The rest of the stuff is well thought out and concise.
As to the other armors, once they lower the HAM on padded, and make Tantel a full Advanced Suit, wearable by more species, you will see alot more variety I predict. However, those first two bugs need to come first.
I am not an AS, but this thread leaves the door open for me to post a quick suggestion I see about armor. I see 80% or better of the people running around in game wearing composite armor, myself included. My complaint is that it is so difficult to equip a set because of the encumberances, that once a person starts wearing their set of composite, they never take it off. Basically I see this hurting the tailors in the game that could make cool looking clothes, but there is no point to buy them when you aren't removing your armor. My suggestion is that armor should have a standard encumberance like other games. You shouldn't need to get a doctor buff and then pop spice and mind food to put on a set of armor. The idea that just to put it on requires this, but when those buffs wear off you can still wear it is ridiculous. Instead there should be a system that depending on what race you choose, you have a specific level of encumberance, and that will also affect how many items you can carry. What this would promote would be people taking their armor off when they weren't in a combat situation and giving tailors more business.
Anyway, that was just a little rambling. I agree with the original posters ideas. Especially the idea of being able to craft the other styles of armor up to the level of composite. It would be refreshing to see some variety in the game in terms of appearance.
Sorry.. damn double post.

there are smiths who can make composite that you can wear unbuffed. you lose base resistant. Also who goes killing with buffs, food or spice anymore. I don't per light encumb 80% composite with a low base i am starting to like high resist higher encumb suits. i rather see people use non layer composite, its light ham easier to produce,or use layered ubese for pve.
sure, you can wear comp unbuffed if you are a human, and can move your secondaries around a good deal, but try making a comp suit with under 400 stamina, cause that is the highest it goes for my Twi'lek. It is nigh impossible without totally tanking the base on my legs and boots. Currently, i have an unlayered suit, with about 40-50%resists, and I can only fit into 7 pieces before I am capped in stupid STAMINA. I have had to buy some organics, make myselfsome Teltier Noodles, and eat em just towear myarmor. Never mind thatmy corresponding agiliity has like aMINIMUM of 600. Stupid balance on the part of the DEVs on these race limitsin my opinion. You can usually get the Mind or the health to under 400, but for some reason, action tends to be just a few points higher, thus making a fully balanced suit unwearable to us Twi'lek.
I wish they did something else with the caps, like let you overcome them, but for a cost of 2 points per point over your cap. That way, I could lose 100 of my agility, and gain 50 to my Stamina or someting like that to overcome this barrier to wearing armor unbuffed.
