I respec'd one of my alts to Master Armorsmith, since I have never, not once, even worked with a crafting toon. I was wondering what stats should I be looking at on my resouces and what range of numbers in those stats are considered good. This question has prolly been answered 100 times or so, so if there is another post answering this a link would be great.
Thanks

From Mastering Master AS, a young MAS’s guide... CU Edition! in the FAQs.

Chapter 2: Resources! Resources! Resources!
I hope you like collecting resources, because you're going to need lots of them. Resources are the primary determination of your armor, so getting prime resources is an absolute must. As has been, and still is, Overall Quality and Shock Resistance is your primary concern. There is a small bit of Decay Resistance to look at also, but this only pertains to appearance schematics, and is not as much of a concern. You have a daunting task ahead of you, collecting the vast multitudes of resources to make three distinctly different types of armor, battle, recon, and assault.
So good resources should have high OQ and SR mainly. How high is good enough? Well, you should never be satisfied until you find the combination of resources you need to cap your armor. You're pretty much looking for 900+ for most materials although some have caps on various stats. The game now takes the caps into account when you're crafting, treating resources that are close to their cap as being close to 1000. For example, I have an alantium ore (for energy layers) that is 990 OQ and 91 SR. Now 91 SR might sound terrible but not when you consider that the alantium's SR cap is 115. So a 115 SR alantium would be treated as perfect (valued at 1000), so my alantium is not as bad as it looks. Ninety is 78.3 percent of 115, so on a 1000-point scale, my alantium's shock resistance looks like 783 to the game.
Hope that makes sense. Resource caps are easy to overlook but important to consider. Here's the authoritative post on resource caps. I hope it is still up to date.

Thanks for the info guys!!! I knew I overlooked something or just breezed on past it. My main reason for armorsmith is our guild doesn't have one...and this alt was rarely used.... until I respec'd him.
Thanks again.. you guys are great.

Once you get all your resources, AS is pretty easy. You just plug them in and max out the one line...... man, this profession used to have something to it.....
