I am currently looking for an AS to make me some faction based armor...All i hear from some of them is that the sockets is totally random and it might take a couple of tries to make a set of 4 socket armor. Now the question is, do AS with the FS crafting lines have a better chance of getting 4 socket armor? I think im talking to AS that are just 12pt...And not FS..Does it make much of a difference if they are FS?

I believe (anyone correct me if I'm wrong), that only your Armor Assembly mod has any effect on the number of sockets.... Armor Experimentation (12 point smith) doesn't give any additional help in getting 4 sockets. That being the case.... anyone who has done the Assembly FS skills (+20 for all 4) will have some advantage here.... not sure if these 20 points stack with the +25 you can get from attachments, or not.

A lot of people believe that to be true....but some don't. There's no real concrete evidence one way or the other, so If you are really worried, then yeah, seek out a FS crafter. It wouldn't hurt anything. (I tend to believe that it does in fact help). Something weird happened to me today. I am a master, but no FS skill or even tapes. I just had a ent buff and I crafted three complete BH suits, w/o a critical failure while experimenting and four sockets on every piece. I've never had that happen before. The only thing different from normal was the mayor changed to a manufacturing city (we were improved market before).

Theres no way to know for sure. It is believed to be related to assembly. But someone with high assembly still has no guarantee of all 4 socket pieces. It seems pretty random to me, ive made plenty of 4 socket pieces with or without my assembly clothes on and vice versa.

Unfortunately everything here is speculation. Definitely having some mods seem to help get more sockets. Up until recently, I could expect to get three or four sockets on almost everything I made. That's with having more than +25 to experimentation and only a couple points of assembly. Now I'm seeing many fewer sockets than I did only a few weeks ago. It's not unusual to see a piece of armor end up with NO sockets. That was unheard of until recently.

I'm officially crying stealth nerf.

As a novice AS, i havent noticed any sockets on my armor. I have been doing the slow grind to learn as much as possible. One suit at a time, and i really dont recall any sockets on any of my suits. I only have about +6 on exp and assembly. Stealth nerf? Just as i start....lol
