Hey, all. New to the game and had two questions about armor.

First, what the heck are sockets?

Second, got a set of assult armor off a vendor yesterday, and when I went to put it on, the radial menu had an option for "refit". What does that do?

Last, I see that a lot of armorsmiths are selling full sets in bags, but I can't verify what is in there. Is there anyway to know what is in the bag and is there any way to get my money back if it sucks/isn't there when I open it?

Thanks.

Good questions. Sockets are spots to put SEA's (skill enhancer attachments) for armor, you use AA's (armor attachments) and for clothing you use CA's (clothing attachments). If you have four sockets in your armor, you can buy or loot those AA's and put them in your armor for bonuses to your other skills (look at your trade forum and you will see alot for sale).

The refit option means that the armor was made before the combat upgrade that they had four months ago and the way armor was used was changed. Some people weren't able to wear their armor anymore and they could "refit" the armor into either of the other types (in your case you could refit it to battle or recon armor if you want. i wouldn't recommend doing that unless you can't wear the assault.

Unfortunately no, you can't see what's in the bag and it is something we would like changed. Your just have to take their word for it. If you are in a place that is obviously selling lots of armor than you are probably safe, as ripping off customers gets around quick and is very bad for business. If you find a bag among a bunch of non Armorsmith stuff...definately beware. Ask people around who the good AS's on the server are and you will find ones that you will be comfortable buying from.

Thank you for the very informative reply. I wish I was on your server, I would go buy my armor from you just on principle.

On a side note, I think someone needs to start a thread somewhere on terms and abreviations in this game. I have seen AAs for sale and had NO idea what they did cause I didn't speak the language. Thank you for bringing me up to date on that one.

Lol! I know what you mean. I figured out CA and AA pretty quickly but was stuck on what a SEA was for a long time (didn't know it was the term to mean both of them). This is my first online game, and I didn't know any of it for the longest time! (I didn't even know lol!)

The list is about 1/2 way down that page, and there is some other useful info on there as well.
