Thread: Uncapped Armor Sales (New Smiths Read This)

Just wanted to post this to encourage some of the newer smiths out there reading the forums.

I got sick of my inventory of mid-quality resources and decided to try something.

I dunno if it's just me and/or my server, but a couple of weeks ago, I startedselling uncapped armor (base around 5000-5500)at a really cheap price and it's actually starting to outsell my capped/layered higher-end armor (excluding RIS, Faction, BH).

I keep about 300 pieces of Black Ubese, Black Marauder and Black Compositeon mybargain vendors.

The resources I use aren't so great, but it's stuff I won't be using anyway if I were to make capped armor.

I'm getting alot of the newer players in my shop these days and if I'm in my shop, I usually throw in a capped piece of armor (like a bicep or something) if they buy a full set of my uncapped armor just to let them know I'll be there for them when they progress and are richer.

I'm slowly getting these new folks to come back for more armor and they bring friends with them.

And you can tell they're progressing because they used to be something like CL20 and are now like CL50. LOL

I buy hides from some of them and some even offer to search the bazaar/loot vendorsfor certain items I need. This one guy even offered me his lots when there was an awesome spawn of polymerlast week.

I think this is just an example of how ayoung smith can get into the market and compete with the bigger boys.

Don't get me wrong.

People will always want better stats.

My point is that not everyone can afforditand these arethe "new" players looking for in-game friends.

Remember when you first became friends with a WS or AS when you were a newb?

It was like "oh, Ihave this AS buddy that might be able to help us out..." and everyone was like "wow, cool!"

Take care of your customers and they'll become loyal repeaters - that's if you don't mind being in tell-hell all the time.

I have no trouble selling noncap armor either. I make as much of it as I can in the factory (given the color woes), and the protection is usually 100 to 200 points from the cap. Gives me a nice price range, and you're absolutely right in that it encourages repeat business.

I do this a lot too, and while it took a bit of time to get sales going, it's a great way of both catering your customers (those that don't have the money or mitigation bonuses for wearing capped sets), getting more loyal clients (when they are wealthier) and put those resources that can't cap anyway to use.

LOL I've been making million and millions doing this and now you are giving away my secret... Most people I know don't want capped for grind... they want lower quality cheap Grind armor... and if they have a set of capped it sits on the shelf for PvP or other such things...

Exactly my point.

It's just that newer smiths tend to think "Oh, I need capped stuff in order to compete", which is not the case anymore.

Plus, I wanted to say, even if youcould cap armor, you can use it as a tool to actually advertise your potential skills to upcomers rather than just trying to sell it at a higher price.

Hmm, interesting. Hadnt really thought about putting nothing but capped armour out, but this is getting expensive as im using the occasional resource kit...but I have tons of resources to make uncapped and occasionally have time when my factories are idle so I guess its time to make a bargain vendor.

Cheers guys.

Dont weep...its not easy to get to, and personally I cheated by using resource kits while having to wait for decent resources to shift in.
