Ok, this may be a really dumb question, but I have to ask. I have a friend who is an armorsmith who asked me to find him some leathery hide on Yavin 4, but I can not find a creature that I can harvest it from. Any help would be appriciated. Thanks.

Find Mawgax (no guarantee for the right spelling)
They have the hide you are looking for.

You have to wonder if he hasn't gotten the hides confused and that he's not looking for lokian leather for padded armor. As far as i remember we armorsmiths don't use Yavinian leathery hide. We do however use Lokian leathery and Yavian wooly.

Mawgax and pucs drop Yavinian Leather. Both show up on mission terminals but it's preferrable to go after pucs (if you don't have good combat skills) as they are a lot weaker.

Thanks all. I did forget to check out the resources needed for the new Wookie armor. It's been so long since we got any new armor.

what qualities do the hide and wood need to have good numbers on to make good armor?

This depends on Server Resouces at the time...
I know currently have an endor wood thats not too hot, hoping for something better later today when a Resouces shift for the endorian wood hits..
But mainly You want materials with these properties...
First OQ
second SR
thrid UT
Fourth MAL
OQ+SR = Resistances
OQ+UT =Durability
OQ+MAl= HAMs
OQ+UT =Durability
OQ+MAl= HAMs
