Thread: Decay and Uber Loot What do we think about this?

Ok, we all know the RIS story. Very hard to make, and few will risk wearing it due to it decaying. True it makes it rare, which could be a good thing, but is this really the kind of 'content' we want? An insanely difficult to make home decoration?

Now comes Mandalorian. Ignoring the whole "Boba Fett"/continuity issue, hopefully it is rare drop or difficult to make (by design this time). But is anyone gonna wear it? Why put something like 'uber'craftable armor in the game if most people are too scaredto wear it? Decay really undermines higher end loot. I'm sure some are happy about this because they hate uber loot, but to me this is annoying and just negates the purpose of even having thisstuff in the game. Decay is a pretty good/realistic feature, but the flaws in it start showing up once you get to the high end items like this.

Don't get me wrong, I the last thing I want is 1000 Boba Fetts running around. But it would be nice to see someone enter a battle donning their Mandalorian or RIS at least some time. The only time I have ever seen RIS in the game is sitting in someones house. What is the point? I am one that never gets to participate in the 'end game' content in MMO's because I just don't have time, and I don't play enough, but I honestly think having this kind of thing in the game is good.

Now, I have few ideas to suggest for fixing this, if it even needs fixing. Perhaps revamping repair, which probably needs to be done anyways. Maybe revamping decay. I don't know. Maybe people think the system works already the way it is. What do you think?

Keep it rare yes. I dont want a million people running around in it. Perhaps they can just take the condition right off the High-end, "rare" armor. It doesnt decay, and people use it in battles. But keep it rare so we dont have a bunch of people running around in non-decaying armor.

See, I thought of that too... I'm not sure it would fly though. This is a really hard problem to figure out I think. Basically, we wantsome things to be rare, but we want people to use them too and not just keep them in their house collecting dust.

The Diablo 2 system comes to mind... Instant, flawless repair, but then what is the point really?

What if repair was flawless, but things actually had LESS endurance? So things would wear out quicker, but repairs would be failproof? If there is flawless repair in the game though, then no one would need more than one suit of anything.

Hmm...
