Ok, made master last night. I and under the impression that I should use 3 of the same type of layers in the segments. What advantages are there to this over splitting them up. Also, what do you guys seems to be the most popular ones so I can get an idea of what might sell better?

I don't use 3 of a type for the simple reason that I hit 80% for that resist with two layers. The main reason for the split is two (or one if the smith is good) of some layer to hit 80%, and then a stun layer to remove composite's vulnerabliity. Also sometimes people want higher protection from two damage types, not just one. Say acid and heat in a chest piece to combat pistoleers weapons. Kinetic is rather popular is my experience, followed by energy. Acid is used lots in helms to stop BH scatter pistol eye shots.
