I'd love to be able to craft faction armor, all we really got so far is Wookie Armor as an extra schematic (ya can't really count RIS or Mando), but weaponsmiths got like 10 additional weapons.
I'd think it would boost the GCW a little bit also, its just to expensive to use faction armor to fight in. As far as the sub-par resists, I think if they made Imperials in Stormtrooper Armor immune to CM's poisons and diseases (like they should be, its basically an NBC suit also) it would give a huge incentive I think also to actually wear in battle.
that is a great idea, rebels should get something similar like a gas mask or something

why should Rebels get protection? I think each faction should have strengths and weaknesses.
Just my opinion..

Composite armor should also protect same with Ubese, actuallyany armor that has a breathing apperatis in it should protect from CM attacks...

Just wondering if there is any word on this yet. Like instead of buying an actual piece of armor using fp you get a schem and an armorsmith makes it for you. Great idea in my opinion and I'm sure this has been brought up 4 million times but just wondering if it might ever happen. I'd love to get some scout armor this way myself.

I agree if by protect you mean some resistance to poison/disease, not complete resistance.

AT-STs make nice fodder and a good FP sink for those that pull them out in PvP!

I absolutely love the idea of faction crafted armor. As far as I know, all the weapons offered as perks can be crafted in much better quality... why not have Imperials capable of making stormtrooper armor? Having ST armor on the list of viable armor IS Star Wars, imo.
