Thread: Why don't I see more armor combinations?

I'm pretty new, but it seems to me that heavy protection is only required on the head, body, and legs. Why does everyone seem to wear full sets of composite armor, instead of mixing it up with say ubese gloves and boots? I don't fully understand the combat system in this game, but it seems that the special shots by both peoples and mobs target head, chest, and legs almost exclusively. In the little time I've spent watching the combat channel I have nver seen damage to the hands or feet.

For those armorsmiths that are working on developing low ham composite, might your efforts be better spent testing armor combos for effectiveness? Is it not cool to mix and match armor pieces? Unless I'm missing something big (a distinct possibility), I thinnk that maybe the tendency to wear full sets of one type of armor stems from the relative newness of the game. In older games like UO people tend to mix and match armor pieces depending on their experience of what is effective, and to cover the weaknesses of their skill set.

Any comments?

On an alt i did composite bp and ubese helmet and it just looked rediculous. That may be half the reason.

hmmm,

I tried full comp. for a while then changed to composite helmet, chest, biceps, and legs, ubese bracers, gloves, and boots. I think it looked o.k. but I've never been very fashionable, in game or out.
