I am new to the armorsmith profession and I was wondering if there was an armorsmith crafting apron? and if not...would the tailor crafting apron work for armor? Figured there was a chance... Since clothing and armor are used in the same crafting station, why not the apron. Can someone clue me in?

Second of all - how hard is it for a tailor to make some armor padding!? Every tailor I talk to tells me they don't have quality resources to make it... because tailors do not need quality resources to make armor padding. It makes sense but thats just one little thing they have to worry about! or am I wrong again? I can't even make any wookiee armor. Does anyone have a suggestion of where to get some? Or should I just shutup and do the tailor profession?

No the tailor's apron does not work for us. We may get an armor apron in the future.

For the Armor Padding, I would recommend gathering the resources yourself, then paying a tailor to make a schematic w/ those resources. It's alot easier and cheaper to run them yourself than to buy them in crates.

*nod*. My tailor char sells schematics, rather than collecting the resources. Why?? How many tailors do you know, who can outbid armorsmiths for wooly hide????? I tried, trust me. I wound up with enough wooly to make 3 crates. I now have to sell those 3 crates for a high enough price to make the credits back. Quality fiberplast I have in huge abundance, so it wasn't a problem. Most tailors have a nice one, simply because whatever planet they normally harvest on will shift something decent every once in a while. Regular hides aren't as expensive, but again, I have to convince scouts to go hunt it. It's an aweful lot of trouble for a single item. My armorsmith chars can get the hides far easier, so they buy schematics for decent prices. Scouts are more willing to trade hides for armor, as well as credits, so it costs my armorsmiths less in the long run.

I might be misreading you, but it sounds like you think that the quality of the resources doesn't matter for armor padding.

Thearmor paddingis the only tailor itemwhere the quality actually does matter. So be sure to get your tailor quality materials and also make sure you have them experiment it how you'd like it if they aren't experienced or knowledgeable about making it.

I happen to be an 11 point tailor myself. I've only recently starting smithing as well. Before smithing, I didn't make the padding due to the fact that I could sell the hides for more before I crafted with them. *rollseyes*

Now that I'm a smith as well, I can see that the profits on Kashyyykian are horrid. So, I'd now rather use those hides to make some nice Ubese. (That and I can't find a scrap of decent Yavinian Leathery.)

...of course, for a price, I'm always willing to do a schematic.
