I'm getting into the armorsmith business and am about to set up my armor vendors.

It took me more then a few tries to get it to the point that myself and my customers liked my prior shipwright vendors and do know that how one sets' up their vendors does play a good part in acquiring business.

Currently I'm leaning towards:
1. Recon Armor
2. Battle Armor
3. Assault Armor
4. Loot-Made/Enhanced Armor
5. PSG's

With individual peices on the same vendor as full suits.

I'm curious what works best for y'all?

I used the following:

Recon

Assault

Battle

Imp

Specdial Orders

Loot made armor is a real pain to make and I didnt think it justified having its own vendor. As far as PSGs everyone want the Imp prototype. Again not something you are going to have a large quantity of. Unless you flat out don't do any, you'll need a vendor to place customer orders for pickup.

4. Loot-Made/Enhanced Armor (assuming that this includeds layered armor as well as health enhanced? If so cool... if not and only health enhanced....why bother?)
5. PSG's

6. Faction Armor (If you plan to sell it that is)

7. Armor Components (Armor segments crated for droid engineers)

8. Special orders

Goodbye to all my friends and allies and enemies, may we meet on greener pastures somewhere else where the players dont get F'd over for spending the last 2 years of their lives playing a worthless POS of a game!

I use 6 vendors.

Battle

Recon

As-sault (Thanks for putting the word a.s.s in a.s.s.ault. It's filtered in the GAME, geniuses)

Special Order pick-up

Hide/bone Drop off

Skill attachments/loot

I have an alt that's CL 80, but I can never harvest enough of the good stuff, so I pay other people to do it. The drop-off point consolidates that to one vendor.

I have a faction and nonfaction vendor.

All bagged suits get a designated [ASSAULT], [RECON], or [BATTLE] at the beginning so by name sort they are all in order. I sell my indiviual pieces based on socket count, condition and protection (older lesser stuff gets reduced to move)

seems to work well for me... selling 10-15m/day now

Thanks for the info y'all.

Now to figure out what to actually sell the suits for... finally sold an advanced kinetic-layered ubese suit for 600k last night.

On a similiar topic, Sockets; its' now been at least twice I've seen established Armorsmiths mention they charge more for more sockets. How do you alter your prices (and does it make that much of a difference) for more sockets?

I know that since I've mastered Craft Mastery that it seems that I get three and four sockets most of the time.

In the front room of my shop, I have four vendors: Assault, Battle, Reconnaissance, and PSGs/Armor Supplies. The first three are flanked by examples of the armor type. I drop a helmet, a chestplate, and a wooden staff to make it appear that I have a small mannequin-type setup. It looks pretty good.

The back room of my shop is where I keep crates of stock deftly stored away in bookcases and armoires. It's also where you can find a shy vendor who takes care of custom orders, and a guy who looks suspiciously like a Rebel recruiter, complete with Rebel banner, insignia hologram (placed atop a hologaming table), and Holonet Terminal (looks like the Rebel Mission Terminal). Unfortunately, he's not doing much lately thanks to the lovely biolink bug.

I do a mail order only system, so mine's a bit different.

Vendor wise I just have 2, one for orders, and one for unlaimed items that I put up for general sale (also have a third furniture vendor, but I'm trying to phase that troublesom thing out)

I have a pretty nice custom order system I use also.

All orders are sent to me via e-mail. Any time someone tells me asking for armor, I quickly tell them to mail me what type they want and what color, as well as what prices my armor is. The order is sent to my mailbox where it enters my 'que' for making armor. I make armor orders based on what order they are in, oldest to newest, save for RIS or special items (like on ocasion when I make quad layered armor and anounce it for sale on the trade forums). I make a person's order, mail them a canned email back telling them their order is ready, what I made, and how much it costs, as well as a waypoint to my vendor. I stick their stuff in a bag marked with their name, and offer it to my vendor for the right price.

To make crafting easy, I have a backpack set aside that has resources in it to make every type of armor appearance, as well as a crate of each type of advanced cores, and tailor components. It's my one stop crafting kit, everything ready to go at a moment's notice. Usually I get about 10-20 orders a week, so I am not over strained yet, if it picks up to more then 30 a week I may have to get a partner I think, but since I'm on a fairly small server I doubt I will get that many.

And with this system, I'm happy because I don't have to waist my time trying to keep a vendor constantly stocked, and my customers are happy because they get exactly what they want. It's a win-win situation, and has made me quite a few bucks in the process.
