Thread: a new Armoursmith looking for help.
First, I would say take Techniques first. This gives you the experimentation mods so you have more experimentation points to work with. Especially, if you are going to make armor to earn some credits as you go. Making chitin with only 1 or 2 exp points really won't sell as well than chitin made with up to 7 exp points you get with Techniques IV. If you are just planning on grinding and not selling until you are master or 4/4/4/4 then it really doesn't matter.
Second, as to the enhancements I really shouldn't be the one to answer since I only made master two weeks ago and haven't even tried armor with enhancements. Right now, I'm having too much fun hunting and making advanced Chitin (currently with 50% kinetic because Dant bone sucks right now). I'm avoiding Composite right now until I stock up on decent quality resources and the crafting changes go into effect.
In all honesty. I don't think it matters what route you take up the armorsmith tree. I recomend you simply get to the top as fast as possible. Don't worry about making a marketable product until you get there, and even then, the wait can be long.
I made mabari chests all the way up. It took me a week on and off to get there. If money is an issue (shouldn't be since you're fighting Nightsisters), do survey mission loops using the shuttles to build up a cash stash.
Step 1) Start building your resource stash (Never raid these for the grind...you'll regret it later)
A) Figure out what types of armor you want to be able to make (ubese, composite, and PSG'sfor mostl)
B) Make a list of all the specific ingredients you'll need to save up in order to make those
C) Make a comparison chart for reference (I use three ratings to categorize each resource's worth)
1) Overall build quality - (Mall x 3 + OQ x 8 + SR x 3 + UT x 2)
2) Specific Resistance Quality - (OQ + SR)
3) Specific HAM Quality - (OQ + Mall)
* if a resource is top in all three, then the choice should be easy. If not, then you'll need to consider what you're making and what results you want (I generally allow the use of bad HAM quality on ubese since ubese is genarally a lighter armor. In composite, though...HAM is more important)
D) As soon as one of your ingredients hits, start pulling like crazy (800K units is not too much)
Step 2) Make master (Do this simultaneously with step 1, but understand that step 1 is the top priority)
Step 3) Get all your experimentation and assembly tapes (Good luck on this one)
Step 4) At this point, you should have at least 300K of each specific resource you need, and should be able to generate large piles of credits. It took me 5-6 months to get to this point, but now I'm considered one of the better smiths on Naritus.
Regarding Nightsister loot drops, they are exactly that. You find them in the inventory of dead nightsisters. You will need 3x as many "Nightsister Armor Layers" as you do "Nightsister Armor Shards"...so look aggressively for those and don't worry about the shards so much. Again, I recomend...I would save any you find until you hit master and have resources/tapes to help out.
Don't split a consecutive drop...you need to keep groups of identical serial numbers together, or they're pretty much worthless. the larger the group, the better.
