Do most of you harvest your own materials used inarmorsmithing or buy from other vendors? It appears to me that early on I might be better offto just harvest what I need while learning and maybe as I progress consider buyingmaterials if I can make quality pieces that will continue to allow that approach?

I harvest but I'm a hermit who dosen't like to deal with people. I have 8 BER 10 medium mineral harvestors, and a BER 13 and BER 24 fusion. The fusions power my fleet nicely, and the harvestors allow me to pull up in excess of 300k of what I'm harvesting. I don't like buying, its a pain. It can be hard to find the correct resources. I'm sure others will say buying is fine, and for them i'm sure it is, I do it myself, I get lots of resources for only the time neccessary fine a good concentration and the money to run them. one BER 10 on a good concentration can pull over 10k of resource per day for only the 1.5k or so in maintenance and power, thats cheaper than the 30k or more you would pay someone else for the same amount of resource.
