Thread: PSGs, Tantle and Lightsabers

One of the biggest bugs in the armor smith profession is the stat shifting bug found in PSGs and tantle. The most popular theory about what causes this is the lack of vulnerabilities in these armors, the stat shifting in RIS armor was fixed by adding vulnerabilities. My suggestion to fixing these is adding a new damage type, "lightsaber damage". By making all armors vulnerable to this damage type you would not only get rid of the stat shifting, but also make the jedi happy. The reason why all armor should be vulnerable to this damage type is that according to SW lore only one material, cortosis, is able to protect against a lightsaber.

The only real problem with this, besides the programming, would be that BHs might see this as a nerf. This problem could be solved by adding a quest armor based on cortosis, the quest would be easier than the RIS quest and the armor would require fewer/no rare drops. T

**edit** the Jedi.

BTW: Cortosis ore is in the game. It's a type of siliclastic ore. What, you didn't think the breaks in continuity stopped with the mere existance of player Jedi, did you?

actualy, make RIS protect against the new "lighsaber" damage... just say that the GDK manages to build up the cortosis in it's scales, to add this protection....

I`m aware of the fact that cortosis is in the game and that not everyone likesplayer jedi. But this idea was more about a "easy" way to fix stat shifting, the correction of lightsaber damage would be more of a continuity friendly side effect, and yes I know that a none lightsaber damage type would work as well, but lightsaber damage was the first thing I thought of. And the cortosis based armor could also serve as a nice break from making the endless amounts of composite and ubese sets.

If they did have such an armor, then Bounty Hunters would probably want it, since istn't there a bounty on Jedi?

to the poster ... great idea! ... sounds like this could lead to alot of new and neat ideas for ARMORSMITH (screw BH since this is our forum) w/ new segs, enhancers and what not ...as well as a GREAT lucurative opportunity to help out jedi ... or hurt them by not selling it

Great post in spite of what the BH community thinks. You point out some pretty serious problems and are looking for alternatives and answers. I'm not an armorsmith so I will not even pretend to understand the complications involved in armor crafting.

Light Sabres: Why the heck do these do kinetic? It would seem that some alternative should be provided for these weapons. They should not be a damage type thats number one on the hit parade for all armor. Forgive me but I don't believe that armor should be effective at all against a light sabre.

Shield Generators: I seldom see them for sale and if the shifting stat line is the culprit then you gys deserve a hotfix. Unless they implement Wookie armor this would be one of the few alternatives I can see for this race to get protection (That is if they can use it)

Tantel: Never liked the stuff all that much because it looked too primative. If it's bugged however it really should be fixed.

Given the choice between style over substance. I'll take a sandwich.

I don't one-star posts. Don't make assumptions, and keep your mouth shut next time. Oh yeah, as for the books and movies, I don't remember seeing countless Jedi running through them with names like "Bob The-Difiled" and "Ima'Test'FSCS" (yes, actual Jedi names on Ahazi). And yes, sabers did cut through everything, but blasters also mowed down just about everything in one shot, armor or not.

I don't care about the Jedi because frankly 95% of them don't give a rat's ass about the rest of the player's in this game. They've "mastered" most of the professions (usually ours - *gasp* I'm an armorsmith too) and look down their noses at us because they think that grinding Mabari chestplates for 15 hours then dinging master and dropping it imparts them with the same wisdom that is possessed by a armorsmith who knows the ins and outs of resources, layers, etc.

Do you honestly think it will help our business if sabers are unresistable except for some rare loot-item armor? You're a fool if you do. There are so many powergamers in SWG that doing that would drive every single one of them to Jedi, and those left standing to face them (or even Jedi facing each other) wouldn't bother with armor for PvP (where most of our money comes from - do you think they guys that buy five, six, and seven suits off my vendor aren't doing it to get a set with uber slices?) because it would be useless. We'd be turned into a service profession, reduced to making armor for holo-grinding and assembling the pieces of your new anti-saber armor. Sounds like a blast, no?

EDIT: Oh yeah, I love your short memory Stooric. If I remember correctly, and I do, I'm the one that practically gave you what amount you have of the last good spawn of axidite on Shadowfire. I'm glad that after taking time to help out a newer Shadowfire armorsmith get going on saleable Ubese that I'm just a "silly bounty hunter" in you mind. Hope that axidite's treating you well, hypocrite.

When did they add vulnerabilities to RIS, and why in the world would they have done that? RIS is supposed to be uber, something with vulnerabilities means it's not. Just fix the coding errors.
