First off , I am a newb and am trying to do decide whether or not to take up the AS proffesion. I have read through the forum and various posts trying to figure out if the profession is for me. I just started playing post Combat Upgrade. So, I have no idea what it was like to be an AS pre. I have found alot of ppl saying that becoming an AS now (post cu) is kind of a waste. I hear the armor does not even work well post cu. If this is true, then what would be the point of becoming an AS. I love the different armor ( especially RIS ) and would like to be able to make it on my own someday.

So, r u current Armor Smith's happy with the profession? Or is it a dieing breed? and does the armor work or not ?

Thanks so much for your help and reading this post. Looking forward to finding out what I should do.

From a non-AS point of view:

  • i make a good deal of money selling ressources to AS.

  • the AS sure wouldn't pay me the money if they wouldn't earn it.

  • i notice a significant decrease in damage taken when i wear armours

  • my armours notices a significant deal of damage taken when protecting me

Thus, at least from my point of view, it's working pretty fine. People buy and wear it, the stuff protects. The only thing i would wonder about, people claim that armour with zero durability still protects, and some say that it protects less than armour in good shape. This stuff should be checked as it will surely make a difference on AS business.

So, while i can't state a final truth, i personally generall consider AS to be a working profession and not about to die any time soon.

It can definatley be challenging finding the right resources...

But in the eyes of my Guild and Friends I am the Armor God and that has to count for something...

The reason you are not getting much a response to this thread is there was one similar that was done recently called "Do you enjoy AS?" that we all answered and put our two cents in. It should be in the first few pages here and will give you a good idea of the general feeling towards the profession. I love it, but I've only doing it for a few months...the older ones are getting bored, the very new are super frustrated! It's cycliable (sp?) much like everything else.

Good Luck in whatever you decide.
