You know being a programmer myself I get very tired of SOE programmer stumbling around trying to fix things and never fixing a thing... So I'm going to provide the code solutions for them... Dev's if your are watching take this to your programmers...

he is my solution for the 1/1 condition bug... took me less than a cigarette to figure out where it was...


programmers find this section of the code


if(armorConditon != 0)

armorProtectionPercent = 100;


Change it to


if (armorCondition > 1)

{

armorProtectionPercent = round( armorCondition / armorMaxConditon * 100);

}

else

{

armorProtectionPercent = 0;

}


hurry now get that in tonights patch

Sometimes I do wonder just how many of us are (or have been) programmers/developers etc.... seems to be quite a high percentage. I suggested a database fix a while ago for the bio-link non-tradeable bug along the same lines. Just seems crazy to methat simple logic errors always seem to make it onto live.

a good majority of the players in my guild had programming experience or were in school for programming..... Before it broke up... which leads to alot of frustrated people... If it takes them a week to fix a couple bugs and then half the time they are not fixed and I can pick out were the problem is and offer the solution in less than 30 seconds It leaves me wondering how many programmers SOE actually has on this game... One?


Programmer looking at using my code please note you will have whining combat professions threatening to QUIT the game after implementing it as I hope you noticed my code reduces the amount of protection to the percent of condition left....


100% condition = 100% protection value (except in the case of 1/1 which the code handles)

90% condition = 90% of the protection value

.... .... .... .... ....


Ah damn I'll never make it at SOE I solved 2 things with one code change...

You'd think they didn't use any OOP in the game and just hardcoded everything in seven different places with 29 different references and that's how they ended up with "millions" of lines of code.


I can understand some thing being harder to fix than others, but my god... 10 lines of code SHOULD be able to fix a problem, not 10.000.

The funny thing is I have no problem envisioning SOE programmers....... LMFAO


When I came to the job I currently work at that is exactly what I had to begin doing replacing 10,000 lines of code with 10.... using OOP so when things broke you only had to fix it in one place instead of 50 or 100.... These same programmers are the ones that leave thing out because it says it is OPTIONAL or take the shortest easiest route to accomplish things which ALWAYS comes back to bite them and ends in me going back to fix them...
