i'm just trying to start building layers.
For the first time i find myself needing very specific resources. Instead of "ore" its Alantium (something or other) ore.
If i check my mineral scanner and they aren't on the menu (so i assume not spawning on the planet) are they going to beavailable on another planet. OR do i have to wait for the resource to spawn.
I have a problem withspecific Ore, specific (plex)gemstones.
Sorry I can't be more specific with the names, its only dawned on me after i've logged out of the game that the resources might be just on another planet waiting for me to arrive and harvest.

They could be on another planet, but not necessarily. There isn't always a spawn going of every specific named resource. Some places have gone months without seeing a spawn of one type of resource or another. It makes it very difficult at the beginning and when it does show up, mine it like crazy because you never know when it will be back!

While not as accurate as it used to be, SWGCraft is still an excellentsite to use when evaluating current shift resources, and researching "out of shift" resources. Create an account while your at it so you can verify what ya find and do your good deed for the week
Just remember that it's not a perfect catalog, and some servers might be really inaccurate. For Eclipse, I guess it's about 90-95% accurate.
Oh, that Gem your're wondering about is Plexite.

send out survey droids to all the planets then use the 30k resource kit to see the stats on all the resources...

Exactly what the others are saying...
There are 7 different types of Aluminums, 10 Coppers, 8 Irons, 12 Steels, 34 Ores, 18 Gems, etc.
Not all of them spawn at the same time.
They take random turns spawning called "shifts".
For example: You might get 3 Duralloy Steel shifts in a row while Carbonite Steel doesn't shift infor 6 months.
I'd say that on average, if you're good at finding your resources, you should have every specificresource you need within like4-5 months. Sometimes you'll get a dry run on 1 or 2 specifics, but they will eventually spawn. The longest dry spell that I personally know of is 9 months for a specific Ore.
I can only suggest you take trips to each planet at least once every 2-3 days and open up your survey tool to check what's there. Survey tools are planet-specific. If you open your tool in Theed, you will get the exact same results as opening it in Moenia. So there's no need to hop from city to city within the same planet.
Also, if you're just starting out and don't have excellent resources, NEVER make too much armor.
You will constantly be upgrading your resources before selling out your previous stock.
And one last thing, keep an eye out for decent hides. They too shift.

I know Neutronium Steel is a rarer spawn on Wanderhome. From what i'm told last spawn(other they last weeks) was like 3 months prior to that. But the last spawn was excelent, so that makes up for it.

heh i forget their name, but u send it to a planet and it gives you a list of all the resources spawning... interplanetary survey droid i think, (i could be wrong) it takes a survey device with it, so u need to make more mineral/chemical etc devices for it to work

If you have the funds, the galactic vendor search can be your freind. I used it just last night to gather up what I needed for my R.I.S. Certification.
