Thread: Can I Drop Artisan?

According to the skills tool I downloaded, I don't need all the artisan skills once I'm an Armorsmith. I don't particularly want the surveying skills and would love the skill points back. Can I drop them, or will I lose armorsmith if I did so?

Thanks for any help.

All you *need* is Engineering I-IV. The rest of the artisan tree is not required.

However, it is often useful to have a few of those skills.

Specifically Business 3 so you can have a vendor... unless you just use the bazaar and/or sell in town.

You can make good cases for needing all of artisan... everytime I try to talk myself into dropping it, I find another reason I need it.

Short answer: No. Long answer: No. You need to keep the prerequisites to keep a skill.

You *can* drop everything except 4xxx Artisan, but nothing else, as that is the prereq for being a shipwright. While that might be needed for extra points, I'd highly recommend keeping artisan at 4044, namely for merchant skills and being able to survey your resources.

So in that case... my artisan can be 4 only, 0, 4 only, 1-4... since i'm a merchant too?

I was talking to someone the other day and this subject came up. He told me that every box in artisan helps with the assembly. Not sure if that's true, anyone know?

If you are Shiwpright and Merchant you must be at least Artisan 4040. You cannot drop the Enginnering line since it's a prerequisite for SW and you cannot drop the Businees line because is a prerequisite for Merchant.

Not true. Artisan skills only affect artisan related schematics.

Olaff: Not to all of my knowledge. They help with their specific lines, but not in general. And, the majority of help you get from Artisan is for Artisan items.

All of the skills for a shipwright come from the shipwright boxes.

And Cottus: Yes, if you have any Merchant skills, you must also keep that Artisan branch at 4.

I don't understand why you would want to. Engineering IV is a requirement for Novice Shipwright. Business is a must if you have any intent of selling your wares. Surveying is quinessential for gathering resources.

Of course, you can always have alts or friends sell your wares and survey for resources.
