I have Master Armorsmith, Master Architect, Master Artisan, and Novice Merchant which leaves 47 skill points left.
What skills in merchant would you suggest? I have enough for 2 full branches and up to tier 3 in a 3rd branch.

Grab the Management column to get the vendors and item limits that come with that column. Otherwise, go with what you need at the moment.
You want to drop a merchant tent?, Then run up Efficiency to IV and drop your tent. Place some vendors in it to start drawing business, then use the merchant xp you rack up to climb a different tree as needed. Want to replace your old vendors with snappy-looking vendors? Go up hiring. Want to have your vendors appear on the planetary map? Go up advertising.
The thing is, once something is in place and you drop a skill, that "thing" does not get removed. You don't loose your merchant tent ... but if you redeed it, you cannot place another (until you have efficiency IV again). You want to choose exactly what type of vendor you have and give them cool things to wear? Fine, and they will stay that way if you drop hiring IV ... but again you can't place anything new if you drop hiring IV.
Personally, I keep all of management and some of hiring, to have a little more choice in vendors when I need to place a new one. I've spent some of my remaining skill points on FS boxes, but I keep enough free to allow me to run up a column if I need to. With the traffic my vendors get, even if I spend every last merchant xp I have banked I'm usually capped again in a day or two.
Some people I've seen who are dedicated master merchants don't really care for this sort of use of the profession and argue for things like tents being condemned if you drop efficiency IV. But like you I've mastered artisan and two elite crafting professions: I use the remaining skill points in as pragmatic a manner as I can to promote my business.

Thanks for the help! I didn't know about the tent staying and whatnot. I don't think any of this information is any of the FAQ's (armorsmith or merchant alike).
Thanks again for the help!

Not sure, but you may kinda find it on the Merchant board in the Bug List item.

Just remember not to drop management. If you have more vendors than you can manage, you won't be able to access some of them until you regain the management boxes. You can play chutes and ladders with the other three branches, though.

I'd definitely keep Merchant 3xxx for planetary advertisement.
This is unless you're in a big mall or something and you don't need to advertise on the overhead map.

You can drop Advertising 3, and your vendors will stay on the map.
