Thread: 80 Elec, 70 Base Noob Question

I have been collecting some old and some new resources trying to produce this armour, so far I can get to 66% elec, 55% base.

My comp segment is base 20%, electric 11%. This once placed in my armour gives me 31 base and electric with no experimentation.

Will it be resources with better oq/sr that is needed to get this or is my segment poor too.

The base on the segments is pretty low.

Yea, Your using some pretty low quality resources.

This is with only the segment and no layers. Would that still be achieveable?

If you're looking to produce 80 Elec/70 base (so that you can get everything bar Elec, Stun and LS up to 90%) then you need to use triple-layered segments (with Electricity resistant layers), and max out the base resist for each layer. Assuming you can do this, you won't need to spend any points on the 'Resistance' section of the layers, since the high base will get you to 80% Electric anyway.

Be on the lookout for Fermionic Siliclastic Ore. It's a Shipwright resource, and like all those new resources, it has no caps on its stats, andso it can beVERY handy for making Electric layers. I'm currently harvesting some with MA=195, OQ=993, SR=928, UT=883, and even if it doesn't improve the base, it might let me use cheaper resources in the other slots.

It might also be worth checking out the resources used for some other layers, for instance Cold layers. If you have, or can find, better resources for those layers, then you can get the high base that way. As long as it's not a common damage type, players won't really care if it's capped at 80%, as long as they can get stuff like Kinetic and Energy up to 90%.

The best thing to do when you're playing around is hand-craft composite gloves. They only take one segment, so you don't have to make any factory runs, and you can tinker with your resources and experimentation until you like what you see

So with triple layered elec segment, at 4% base I will get 67% base, to achieve 70% will it be the layers that need to be at 5%?

Can't get the layers to 5% I think I'd need almost 1000OQ/SR to achieve this.

Next area I am looking at is the segment itself, according to swgcraft I am using the best resources that have spawned for these so I guess no improvement there.

So it must be the segment, although the resources here are high too, a couple like Beyrllius Copper and Naboo Fiberplast are a little lower but not too much, guess I just need better.

Yeah, I don't think you can get 5% base on a layer, but hidden percentages on the layers can improve the % on your segment. If you're struggling to hit the high notes, it's probably the resources on your actual armour pieces that are holding you back.

I'm a little confused by your last paragraph - the resources you quote are used for the final armour piece, not the segment. Here's an easy way to tell what the problem is - if your segment is 34% base and you still can't hit 70%, it's the resources on your final armour piece that are the problem. If you aren't hitting 34% base on the segment, then you can probably improve in that area.

It may be possible to hit 70% base with 33% segments, but I know that I can't with my resources.

I think I am getting the hang of this now, one of the questions I posted earlier was about the reason behind putting Kinetic in special rather than base. What I didn't realise is even though a layer can have 4/4 on base and sp resistance the actual maxium experimentation that you managed on that line is taken in account when you assemble the segment and then onto the piece of armour your crafting.

Because of the resources used to make kinetic layers seem easier to obtain higher stats for, it's far easier to obtain 70% base, 80kin/elec than 70% base 80elec.

Making a kinetic segment I managed a 34% base, using an electic a 32% base. The comp gloves came out at 69% for kinetic, 67% with the electric segment.

So based on the info you gave me, it must be the armour resources now preventing me from getting 70% base.

If 34% is all you need to obtain 70% base can you make a 35% segment and if so what's the point?

if thats using no layers in the segment then you could get the base upto about 67% by using triple layered 4% base segments

After some testing today, I think I've confused myself more and need some of you experts to explain a few things to me, first let me tell you all my results.

Layer

Heat - 4% base 5% Res this when experimented on quality runs out at 87%

Kinetic - 4% base 4% Res this when experimented on quality runs out at 93%

Electric - 4% base 5 % Res this when experimented on quality runs out at 84%

Segment

Advanced Comp - using 3heat layers - 34% base when experimented on quality runs out at 81%

Advanced Comp - using 3kinetic layers - 34% base when experimented on quality runs out at 81%

Advanced Comp - using 3electric layers - 33% base when experimented on quality runs out at 81%

Comp Gloves

using 3 heat layers - 68 base when experimented on quality runs out at 84%

using 3 kinetic layers - 69 base when experimented on quality runs out at 84%

using 3 electri layers - 68 base when experimented on quality runs out at 84%

Looking at these a 4% layer with 84% exp does not give the same as 4% layer with 93% exp even though they all have the same % base when making the segment, but yet the final experimentation quality in the segment is all the same at 81% !! When making the armour the only difference seems to be the extra 1% base in the segment to make 69%.

So my question is this, where do you choose to put better resources? The layer would require the very best resources to improve kinetic and get 5%, segment and armour looks the most likely but I find it hard to believe you have to use such excellent resources to create 70% base when I have been buying it from other armoursmiths for ages.

On Infinity we can make 70% base only last 2-3 months, you need all resources to be really good . BTW, try touse one base-experimented stun layer+ 2 electric layers.

I think what you are seeing are the hidden decimal values. On your crafting display the numbers are always rounded down to the next whole number. So while you may have 2 layers that say 3% one of them may be 3.0 and the other 3.7.

There is also some weirdness that goes on where the base % will actually hit the max on the final combine before the experimentation bar is full.

As far as which resources are important, well.. all of them. Great segs will still turn out crappy with bad final combine resources. Most smiths have resources with oq+ sr > 1800 (where they aren't gated). And smiths that have been around for a while have houses with nothing but resources stored. Many of them server best too.

You need to really watch the resource spawns and get a lot when something great comes up. 500k isn't too much.

Furia and I still have some of the 1000oq solid petro that spawned on Tempest ages ago.
