Thread: Reverse Armor Hole Not Working????

Hi Guys,

I guess the armorsmiths would probably know better than most. Do you know what makes the reverse armor hole work/not work?

I've recently unlocked my second character, and before getting Jedi, my main character was quite happily tanking nightsister elders and krayts wearing just Helmet, Chest Plate, Gloves and Boots.

Now, with my new character, if I wear only those pieces of armor, I get damaged badly to health and action. I know several people who still wear only these pieces of armor, and i've tested with my main and it still works. Is there something which triggers this reverse armor hole to work? Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Some pieces of clothing will cause it not to work, namely skirts. Try going out with just your 4-piece armor on (chest/helm/boots/gloves) and seeing if it works. Then add a piece of clothing and test again. Rinse and repeat until you nail down what's causing the armor hole. Then find something else to wear. I've noticed that you can wear both bracers and both biceps without the gloves and it works just like the 4-piece, but if you add non-armor gloves you get the hole. So gloves and skirtsare what I know of that cause holes.

Oh, can you explain this to me? I've been out of the game a long while and I've returned to find talk of 4 piece suits and have seen folks fighting high level mobs in what I consider to be insufficient armor.

I feel like a noob again! Weeee.

Basically, the way the system is working at the moment, you can get away with just wearing those 4 listed parts of armor. All damage will redirect onto those 4 parts of armor. As per the problems i'm having, it can't be relied on 100%, but when you get it working for your character, it does work.

I've tanked nightsister elders, ancient krayts, and just about every MOB in between wearing just those 4 bits of armor. 2 reasons I don't wear the full set: It's hard to get a full set of 80%+ base resist, and the encumberance on a full set just makes my Zabrak mind drain like there's no tomorrow.

from what I've heard, and based off of personal experience, high level mobs will defeat a 4 piece suit sometimes, and often it's a good idea for whoever the tank is to wear armor pants, as that seems to help fill in the gaps of the 4 piece armor suit.

Lots of rumors of course, one being that you should remove all clothing that are specific to the parts you are not using armor on, so remove any cloth gloves and perhaps pants and try again.

Well it didn't work with a one-piece jump suit. Changed to a BE Shirt and BE Pants (Medical on Pants, Stun/Melee Def on Shirt) and i've now got 100% coverage.

with the clothes i ware on 3 toons i have never had a armor hole with a 4 peice suit.

to the first poster the problem very well could be your lack of toughness mods. If your old char was a swordsman or TKA they will take about 1/2 the damage of your new toon in identical armor.

Wow, this is the last forum I would have expected to hear this information flow. And for our Corr to jump in as well? Im disturbed

Is wearing the 4 piece suit acceptable now? Have we all become complacent to the fact that over 50% of our suits are now useless?

Lets stop helping people cheat the system, and start talking more about how we can get it fixed.

it's been common place for a long while now, and to be honest I personally feel that if the customers know about 4 piece suits, and want 4 piece suits, give them 4 piece suits.

And no point in making a huge fuss about it, since the devs will tell me to tell you all it will be adressed in the CU.

there's still advantages and disadvantages to wearing a full suit, or wearing 4 piece. Although it is arguable that a 4 piece is probably the most benificial, full suits last longer, you have less worries about something finding an "armor hole" especially against high level critters. And if you need an AA and don't have an open spot left in your belt, it's best to stick them in the arms, and wear a full suit, since they wear out the slowest.

Personally, I love the four-piece suit from the merchant's perspective -- fewer distinct items I have to craft and keep stocked.

Nothing, and I mean nothing, irritates me more as a shopkeeper than to stock a bunch of biceps and bracers, only to have someone come in and buy all the left bracers. Even before the four-piece phenomenon, the arm pieces, gloves, and pants were generally slow sellers. In the four-piece world, I don't have to worry about them all that much, since they're not major sellers and the odds of someone buying all twenty L-Bracers are slim.

In the four-piece world, I've been able to go from a scenario where I make 45 full suits in a composite run to where I make 30 full suits and a ton of extra chestplates, boots, gloves, and helmets. Everything sells at a fairly brisk pace, and when customers' pieces wear out, it's going to be the chestplate, boots, or gloves -- stuff I have readily in stock.
