I really hope this question hasn't already been asked and discussed. I went back 200 posts and couldn't see anything, so i will ask it now.
I have 4 interwoven schematics, tons of 5% yellow cubes, a bunch of 5% NS layers, some good shards, and crappy crappy janta hides. Should I:
- Have all 4 schematics made into armor right now, so i can have two "pre-nerf" suits
- Make one suit now, and save 2 schematics untill after the CURB
- Save all 4 schematics untill after the CURB
- Use 5 identical of everything to make a full suit with 1 schematic, saving3 untill after the CURB.
- Any of the above, but use Krayt Scales to get good protections with low HAM (I wouldn't need to use a kenetic layer, and might be able to squeze a RIS layer into every piece - that adds up). The difference between 800 and 900 damage reduction is much less thanthe difference between 80% vs 90% (i have no idea what the actual numbers are, i am just talking hypotheticaly).
I already have a very good hammer, so camping the acklay for RIS Schematics is pretty much a waste of my time. I would like to just stick with the 4 schematicsI have right now. I plan on fighting more night sisters for more layers (please, please some 7%'s or better). I am procrastinating grinding an atst so i can do janta missions (fook doing missions for 2k). Man are Jantas boring. Maybe i will just use the crappy hides i have now, and get some scales for after the CURB. Ugg, i doono.

I'm trying to help a friend with crafting a set of RIS. Where do I find the schematice required? Geo Caves??
Most have hundreds of cubes from there, never saw a RIS schematic.
Thanks,

Rob-Roy, one of the RIS schems is a loot from the acklay deep in the geo caves.

I really don't think there's going to be any such thing as a prenerf suit of armor. Armor rating (light, medium, heavy) is going away. Looks like the percentages are going away, too, in favor of some other measure of resistance. All armor is supposed to converted to the new system.
Personally, I'd wait if you are actually serious about using RIS in combat. Not only do you need to know how armor will work and convert, but you may also want to change to a profession more suited to a different style of armor than whatever RIS will convert to.
Having said that, I just made my first two interwoven suits this week (sans bracers and biceps). I owed one suit to my ranger friend and put another on display in my shop. Neither of us kidded ourselves by thinking these suits would actually see combat. In fact, she was thrilled when four of her five slices were for encumbrance. I'm not slicing the other suit yet.

Close. Armorsmiths get the RIS schematics by completing a quest for the hermit near the rebel base on Dant. Once you have the schematics, you can make all the RIS you want; they are not limited use.
The acklay at the end of the geo caves sometimes drops the interwoven RIS segment schematic. This is a five-use schem that lets the armorsmith add an extra protection layer and a geo cube to the armor. At most you can get 20 segments from this schematic by making small factory runs. Each piece of RIS takes one segment. The regular RIS segment allows for only two layers and one enhancer (like janta hide).

This is trueBut as geo cubes drop in sets of 7 and gurk king hide drops in no more than 5 so i wouldn't really recommend a factory run .
get it made now if you can .

After looking at it, this is probably the most economic way to go. Correct me if i am wrong, but I do not need the GDK scale for the factory schematic right? On Kettemoor, Hides and Wolly Bones are about 100k each. This means i will probably burn 2 million worth of stuff (assuming expensive NS Layers and Cubes) but get about 6-9 million extra milage (20 uses-5 for a normal run x 2-3 million per schem=6-9) from each Schematic.

Well lets put it this way.
We do know armor, especially RIS, will get converted over to the new system. What we don't know is if janta hides, NS layers, shards? HAM costs aren't even used anymore, geo cubes ect... will be converted. The doc said each armor can take two future enhancers so some such thing. It made is sound as if enhancers won't be part of the game at least of now. That part made me question if any of our good loot drops will be valid post CU.
So in short, make it up in armor so it converts over to what ever.
