I'm a rifleman and I was hunting nightsisters one night. I found some that had 100% resist to everything except blast and I think it was kinetic with light armor. I thought what the hell and started shooting with my T21 energy based armor piercing 3 rifle. I thought I wouldn't be able to do any damage to a 100% energy resist mob. Well about 25% of my shots actually did damage to it so I spammed dizzy until I got a knock down on it. Then I took out my energy based laser rifle armor piercing 2 and auto fired it to death with the same 25% of my shots hitting for low but not incredibly low damage. I think I was auto firing for around 250 and mynormal auto fire is 100 to 600 with this gun.I understand armor piercing negates the armor reduction but then my shot would hit the resist of 100 and do no damage. Can somebody explain why I could kill this nighsister.

Did you do a bleed shot on it?

They always bypass armour and apply damage to the pools.

No bleed shot and I thought the armor hole was fixed but that makes since.

Could be the 'new' armor hole. The one that seems completely disconnect from the 'unarmored' backpack/undershirt styleareas.

My understanding of NPC resists is that they act like a shield generator (ie. not a location based damage system) Due to the shifting resists ofshields I haven't used one steadily enough to note any armor holes with it. Guess I'll test that out tonight.

would a pet with 100% resist be immune to that type of attack? For instance would a BE monster with ar1100% blast resist be completely immune to a swordsman wielding a hammer?

I dont think so, I think it would have to do with the armor. For instance if you have 100% resist and to whatever damage a t21 does and no armor, you will still do uber damage because of the ar3 on the t21. But to tell you the truth, I just dont know.

Actually, 100% resist means just that. I am a TKM and can not scratch a 100% resist MOB reguardless of armor. If I remember correctly, armor deducts from the damage before the resists are applied. So, a hit for 500 might allow 400 through the armor then the resists deduct from the 400 figure. Armor piercing weapons just up the 400 figure they do not up the damage.

I would hope that it works like that, cos that was my prior understanding (or assumption really).

So if I got a pet with 100% resist to everything but kinetic and energy most people wouldnt be able to kill it in PVP? Except for TKMs most people dont use either damage type in PVP.

That statement isn't true, while in concept that is what armor piercing should do, in SWG the AP rating of a weapon does up its damage versus lower armor rated creatures/players. So a normal weapon with AP 0, fighting a creature with AR 0 does the amount damage stated for the weapon (specials and so forth not withstanding) less any resists. In the same fashion an AP 1 weapon, while fighting against an AR 1 creature will do this same damage calculation. However, if there is a difference in Armor Piercing of a weapon to the Armor Rating of the creature or player the damage is modified by a multiplier. I believe it it 1.5 times base damage for attacking a creature/player with one lower level of AR to your weapon, and 2 times base damage for twice the AP to the AR (so a AP 2 weapon vs a AR 0 creature or non-armored npc/pc does double the base damage). Also if you're attacking something with a higher AR than your weapon you will do lower damage (0.75 or 0.5 times the base damage for 1 or 2 levels below).

I could be completely wrong at this point, but this is how it worked some time ago and I haven't seen any changes to how AR and AP works other than the removal of AR to some of the creatures and the 75% pvp reduction to all damage if fighting another player directly.

Just my thoughts, do with them what you will.

How are the resists for newly tamed pets showing up in datapads? The reason I ask is because it appears that the special protection component of resists didn't change and I want to see if it has to do with the way the DNA is being displayed or not.

If you're familiar with what the SR for your pet would have been, great. If not, could you please give the type of newly tamed pet and the values next to the resists?

This info will help us better figure out how to control critter level so you'll be able to find more CH critters faster.
