Ok, so now I'm a 12-point armorsmith! I've been crafting since release, but I'm finally bored with architect. and making stims as BE is just waaay to simple.
I'm using server-best resources to craft high-end armors (8100 energy-layered recon, etc.)
My question is... (since I've obviously not dealt with the intricate level of subcomponents before)
How do you guys manage subcomponents?
Obviously using one schem for all layers limits you to like 32 suits or whatever for your final schems..
My initial thinking was to use four layer schematics, giving me just under 100 suits per run.
How far do you mass production smiths take this? I really can't see myself using 108 layer schems to max out at 1,000 suits per run
Way too much factory time involved.
Any tips would be appreciated.

I tend to work around the idea of twenty-five suits at a time along with some extra leggings and helmets. When I run unlayered cores, I run three sets of 1000 segments and then do 999 cores. I don't believe that most smiths mass produce layered armor. I certainly don't. Layering is the exception, not the rule. I save layering for high-end custom suits, faction armor, and RIS.
I run seven factories. I'd start three of them on segments for cores. After they'd made a few hundred, I'd go ahead and pull a few crates out to make a core schematic. I'd restart the segment factories and then have another factory start on the cores. Then I'd periodically empty the segment factories into the core factory so segments and cores could run at the same time. It's a big time saver.
I used to just have one factory constantly perking along on 1000-layer runs of primus layers until I ran out of vintirum. I'd also keep one factory free to run the final pieces of armor (since they move fairly quickly), and another free for tailor components or special projects.
