Thread: Is color preserved when refitting armor?

No, it defaults to a basic color... comp (white) Chitin (sickly brown), Bone (um... boneish), Padded (Blue), Ubese (tan), Tantel (tan)
Ah, I was afraid I was going to get that answer. So it sounds like there is no way for me to refit any kind of armor and end up with a black piece.

When I put AA into a pre-cu armor I could not refit it. However if I already had AA put in before cu I could refit.
Hmm, that is good to know, Bermag. Good thing I read your post before I attempted it.
i tested it with a precu refittable arm piece. Dumped an aa in and refitted it, it retained the sockets and the skill tape

Ah, so it does work after all, at least for some people. Hmm, I'd like to hear from anybody else who had experience with this either way.
My understanding (and what I was planning to do) was that if I take a pair of 4-socket pre-CU comp gloves, add 4 AA's to it (assuming for the sake of argument that they are all single-skill AA's), and then refit it, the skill mods get preserved and it frees up 3 (not 4) new sockets. The preexisting skill mods all apparently get jammed into the 4th socket during the refit. Now, I can add two more AA's to reach the maximum of 6 (the last socket being unusable). The end result: a pair of refitted gloves that have 6 sockets filled, and the 7th remaining empty, for a total of 6 skill mods. If I had used multi-skill AA's, then the six highest-stat skills from the whole lot would stick. Is my understanding correct?
