Thread: Let's talk faction armor

I know this has been discussed, and I know petitions do not work, but good threads that stay alive and offer constructive comments may get noticed and possibly implimented.

Now I know that in a manner faction armor needs to be a faction sink, but the creation is so tedious. To hand craft every single piece is an extreme waist of time. I realize there needs to be some sort of limit on what can be made at a time, but what about buying a single use schematic, but it allows for say a schematic that can make 10 or so pieces. I love offering my customers imperial faction armor, infact I would rather see them buy that then regular armor... not becuase it costs more, but because it adds a more SW's feel to the game. If I didn't have to hand craft it, I would drop my prices down more to reflect this and even more people would get into wearing it on both sides.

Any thoughts or ideas other than this to make crafting this much sought after faction armor easier?

My easy solution:

Allow the smith to purchase the schematics -- the schematics become permanent, so once you've purchased them, they are yours forever, or until you resign from your faction.

Retool the schematics to require a "factional segment" (much like the RIS segment now) that can only be purchased from the recruiter. Factional segments would then come in stacks of 10 only.

With stacks of 10 "factional segments," you can then either handcraft 10 pieces, or do a factory run of 9. The faction sink remains, but the time (and boredom) sinks associated with thecraftingare gone.

now see that works too, perhaps you could make it so if you buy multiple stacks they can be combined.. I know it seems like alot, but really I would like to do slightly larger runs as I sell out almost as fast as I can make it.

I spent 2 hours the other day making this stuff... went afk to take a shower, watch a little tv, and eat, came back an hour or so later, and had tells saying I was sold out of certain pieces.

I think the bio-linking is more than enough of a faction sink.

When you are closing shop on SWG, remember that you ignored the REAL community to cater to an alpha class that assured this game would never be "balanced."

but then the devs would have to fix factories...and we can't make them work that hard

they wouldn't have to fix factories.... faction armor has no color options to it, so there's nothing to get messed up. Even if it did, people would pay more for different colored faction armor

Please stop the whining and charge the customer for the actual work you do. If that means hand-crafted armour is more expensive - so be it.

It's not whining, it's trying to come up with a better system than the incredibly suboptimal one we have right now. As mentioned earlier, if you're a non-human armorsmith trying to make Imperial armors, you're paying through the nose for faction points, putting you at a serious disadvantage price-wise compared to your human competitors.

Hand-crafting factional armor that cannot be colored is boring and tedious. These are popular armors that help immerse players in the Star Wars universe (well, at least the Stormtrooper ones do ... the rebel ones look dumb IMO), and it would be nice for these to be a bit more readily available. Couple the tedium of hand crafting with the hassle and utterly ridiculous setup of purchasing the schematics, and you have a really crappy system.

absolutely agree.
I like the system the way it is EXCEPT that the bio-link faction cost is way, way too high.

I don't completly understand the OP issue. I can crank out 10 suits of faction armor in less than an hour. Unless you have a desire to be selling more than that at any one time I don't get the issue. I guess its dependent on your server population as to how fast you sell the stuff

If the point is that your being racially discriminated by the empire, well that's the side you chose.

Considering that continuity is sacrificed for "fun" and "fair play" in almost every other aspect of the game, it seems asinine that continuity is held to in this instance.
