Thread: Question about hindrance

I have had customers ask me about armor on my vendors reporting to the viewer that the armor will hinder them. This is a display bug. There are a couple of independent ways you can tell if the armor will hinder you.

1) Look at the armor's hindrances, not the column that says "your hindrances" (or whatever). If the hindrances aren't above 40 percent (for battle armor), you won't be hindered.
2) Look at the stats. The cap for unlayered battle armor (you can tell it's unlayered if all the protection numbers are the same) is 6000. Hindrance for 6000 armor is 40 percent. If the armor's protection numbers are 6000 or less, you will not be hindered.

The only way to get an armor's protection above the cap (before publish 20) was to slice it. Armor sliced after the CU went live but before publish 20 that had it's protection pushed over the cap would add hindrances that a master couldn't mitigate away. Slicing doesn't work like this anymore, though.

Fellow players.

I am a master carbineer and from what I understand I am as much proficient as one may be to wear battle armor.

Since I am taking an active interested in PvP and also being a master bounty hunter I went searching for battle armors which offer as close to 6000 energy resists as possible.

During my search, I have noticed that all pieces of battle armor I've encountered in vendors so far give me hindrance. For example I have a piece of chest armor here which gives me,

Movement: -12%
Accuracy: -12%
Rate of fire: -12%

for "base" and "yours" numbers.

This got me a little confused because the assault armor I have recently bought (made post CU) gives me 0% in all three categories and it's 7000/5000/6000 resists.

And here is my question. Why do I have negative effects for wearing battle armor since as a master carbineer I am proficient to use it? The only battle armor that does not give me any negative numbers is the Katarn (quest) armor. All other pieces I've seen give me negative numbers.

Also, people put suits in backpacks so the ones that I've found with "good" resists in vendors there is no way I can tell what their hindrance stats are.

Thank you for reading this and I hope someone can shed some light.
