I just came back to the game, and apparently I will need a new suit of armor, because my old set doesn't cut it post CU. I am in the BH tree with a CL 66 (if that matters at all), so perhaps assault would be best. I have also heard about RIS armor, but don't have any idea what tree I shoudl be in for that (or if it is faction armor). I am not 100% sure I will keep the BH tree, but for now while i grind for Jedi it makes sense. Can someone clear the fog for me, and I am on Radiant btw if it helps recommending a vendor to pick up the armor up at...I was gone 1.5 years...so it's pretty much a whole new game to me

yeah, read the sticky for 45 minutes rather than just asking someone to help. Don't you know we are not here to be a community...end sarcasm
an answer for you: Armor now is less like it used to be. There is no more buy a suit and use it for 3-4 months without worry. Depending on your level of getting smacked you can sometimes need 2 even 3 suits a month. (I have one customer I see every week with another piece gone and needing to be replaced, of course he gets them for free and he loses them fighting rancors, kimos, and krayts for me gathering aromr cores.)
As a BH you are assault certified, You may have other professions that allow you to wear other armor. I will give you the short version that you would get in the sticky:
3 armor types now: Battle, Recon, Assault
Assault is strong vs kinetic (+1000k, -1000e)
Battle is strong vs all (no bonus or minus)
Recon is strong vs energy (+1000e, -1000k)
Note: all damage is now either kinetic or energy, with some wepaons doing extra acid, fire, cold, etc..(lightsabers are enrgy, since you are a BH)
Armor style no longer means anyhting in protection. their protection is decided by the cores, their look is only that, a look.
Assault styles: Chitin, Composite
Battle styles: Bone, Padded, Marauder(this is a new armor you have not seen before)
Recon styles: Tantel, Ubese
There is also different ratings for factional armors and wookies and ithorians have one type of each(just can't recall the names off the top of my head)
