This week, I made primus battle cores with 6242 to Energy/Kinetic and 5190 HACE. I thought this should let me cap primus on my final combine (6600/6600/5400), since it adds 400, but instead it only added (X)--the final piece came out 6526/6526/5474.

What am I doing wrong or misunderstanding?

I have the same issue actually and would like to know...I remember reading a while back though that with primus layers the math is slightly different, but I could be wrong.

it add layers onto the unlayered cap (if it is maxed)

so......5600 (unlayered) + 570 primus gets you 6570 resists

and....5810 (unlayered) +570 primus gets you 6570 resists

math is basically unlayered resists +400 (but not to exceed 6000) + layers

unless you have 100% layers you will never hit layered cap
