Thread: Please explain harvestors to me?

Hello,
I've been playing for awhile now, and i've never used a harvestor before. But now that im trying to move up the Armoursmith profession, im finding it very expensive to get resources. I would like to start using harvestors.
can someone please explain to me how they work, what i need to make them work, and how good a choice it is to use them? before i decide to try it out.

Personally I would start with just minerals, because you can get the power to run them from radioactives they can harvest.... Get some BER4 minerals from the bazzar or some meduim BER10's from a local archtect and have a play with them to get to know how they work.... The basic idea is... You also need some cash and some power to start you off, radioactives are best...
- Find a spot with a good % for the resource you want with your survey tool, follow until you reach the high spot - you may have to travel around to find real good spots... I would start some radioactive so you can power them further on.
- Use the deed to place the harv..
- Use the radial to place maintanance (cash) and power into the unit, then use status to check you have a sufficiant number os days on both.
- Use the radial to 'operate' the unit, select the resource from the list and then turn the unit on.
- Come back in a few days to the same spot and 'operate' the unit, open the hopper and remove your resources.
- If the resources have shifted away you can either change to another resource at the same spot, or re-deed the unit with the radial menu destroy (you need to have spare maint to to this)
- Goto top of the list for the next resource you need....
Remember to always keep the power and main supplied or the unit stops / gets destroyed, and keep a eye open for when the resource you are using shifts out...
