Hi,
I thought I'd post this here even though it concerns ALL crafters because this seems to be the most active forum. I fear it would never see the light of day if I posted it on the Artisans forum. Anyway, alot of crafters don't like the fact that there are non-craftable quest items they can't match for sheer power. Well, rather than penalise the combat players for taking them away, I propose some crafter Master Quests for each crafting prof to get something cool too. Here are my ideas:
Droid Engineer Master Quest
This quest is obtainable from an NPC Geonasian hiding out on Lok. He has been the one responsible for repairing and building the rogue Droidekas around the planet. His quest willbe to find a a site rich in a certain kind of mineral, one that cannot be surveyed by normal tools. This mineral would be obvious because of glowing blue crystals pertruding from a rockface (the player will have to explore to find it, following various clues given by different NPCs). The player has to take a sample back to the Geonosian to get the quest item: The schemantics for a Super Battle Droid.
Doctor Master Quest
This quest is given by an NPC hiding on Rori. The NPC is of the race that attempts to heal Padme when she is dying at Child Birth. The Quest will be an exploration quest to look for one of the NPCs friends, who has dissapeared. When found the NPC will need extensive healing by the player and escorted back. The reward is a special technique given by the unusual race. It is a special that can be used once per day, which heals a players wounds completely in one go, regardless of how many there are. It also adds a temporary buff to the health.

Shipwright Master Quest
The Master Shipwright quest is obtainable from Theed on Naboo. The NPC is an old man in a Naboo flightsuit circa Phantom Menace. He identifies himself as Ric Olie! The quest involves the Shipwright having to gain certain amounts of recources which, when given to Ric produces a Naboo N1 Fighter blueprint, and gives the shipwright the certification to create these fighters. The player is also given an N1 holo from Ric.
Weaponsmith Master Quest
The Master Weaponsmith Quest takes place on Kashyyk. It is a mutliple NPC quest where the player must follow the clues, and ends up discovering a crate of cortosis alloy. The alloy is enough to create three cortosis staffs, which are a lethal defense against lightsabre attacks.
Armoursmith Master Quest
Master Armoursmiths can find their Quest in Nym's fortress on Lok. The NPC is Nym's own Armoursmith, and he needs help. He's been asked to obtain various different types of armour to equip Nym's forces. The player must build the requested full suits of armour (five, randomly chosen), out of his own resources and give them to Nym's Armoursmith. The reward is a special three use only tool, which allows the armoursmith to remove the Bio-signature from ANY armour, including quest obtainable armour.
Chef Master Quest
You'll need access to Jabba's palace, specifically the kitchen. The NPC there will give the Master chef quest, which will involve helping the guy feed Jabba's greed (five random requests for dishes to be created). The reward is the NPCs 'special sauce' which can be added to any dishes the player creates. This sauce randomly alters the properties of any food. It can make it infinitly worse, better or disolve it completely.
Architect Master Quest
This quest takes place on Corellia. The NPC is a rich Corellian merchant who wants the architect to build him furniture. The seeminlgy never-ending requests will get more elaborate and silly, until finally it will become apparent that the Merchant has gone bankrupt with his crazy spending and can't afford to pay. By way of compensation, He will give the Architect a house deed to a unique style of large house for the player (the merchant's own house).
Merchant Master Quest
At Master level, Merchants have to option to do a quest given by a Toydarian called 'Blotto' in Mos Epsa (he won't talk to anyone except Master Merchants). If the quest is completed they get an extra Vendor (which is a Toydarian!).
Tailor Master Quest
In addition, at Master Level Tailor's now get a quest from a tailor NPC in Naboo (the quest would be to get certain resources to give to the NPC, which would create a Queen's ballgown). The reward would be a plaque which proclaims the player 'Tailor the Royal House of Naboo' (and also a tradeable Queens ballgown (there was enough resources for two ;-)).

Not a bad post and not bad ideas. You are pitching them at the wrong time though, because the devs are solely focusing on bugs right now. I would think that these quests should be something special like the RIS quest and not like the Imperial PSG quest. Hard resources, loot, and difficult to flood the economy with. It would be nice to see something new for all the crafters out there. You might not get far with these ideas at the moment, but hang on to them...They aren't bad.

bear in mind that once one person has done the quest everyone would be able to find the locations, unless they were random.
Good post though. Oh another thing, werent those things trying to cure padme just droids?

I thought so too, and another thing...I didn't think they did a very good job at it either!

There were droids there yes, and one of them spoke to Yoda and Obi-Wan, but the actual surgeous were gangly blue aliens with a kind of freaky doll face mask on. Here they are, they are called Polismassans
I did try and keep parts of the quests random. On the Chef Quest, what food Jabba wants could be random for example. But remember these are quests only obtainable at Master level, so you wouldn't get huge rushes of people completing them. But for the reason you mentioned, you'll notice alot of the more powerful things are limited use.
If lots of people started grinding to master crafter levels just to get the quest items well, would that really be a bad thing? Having all those extra crafters?
Thanks for the support btw guys, It's much appreciated. Even though the devs SAY they are concentrating on bug fixes at the moment, remember they always prefer content over fixes. They've said as much on numerous occasions.
Besides, I'd call this a fix!

As much as I like new content, I'm just going to go ahead and alienate myself from the rest of the AS community by saying:
We already have a master quest. R.I.S.
I would rather have all the other crafting professions (Although your doctor is sort of misplaced, they don't craft. BE's do... I think) getting a master quest for them to do. Besides, I think unlinking bio-links would be a silly reward for sucha resource-consuming quest. But that's really beside the point.
We've had our "Epic" quest added. Let the others have their time in the sun now.

I think you are right. The limited un Bio-link is just an "eh" award, but that's not a problem because of the RIS. All crafters should have something like the RIS quest. It's really a good quest IMO. You can't really do it until you are somewhat established as a master AS, requires some tough, but not impossible loot to keep it from being produced in mass quantites, and it isn't unbalancing either. It's just a cool armor that is more a status thing for both the wearer (who pays for it) and the maker. There should be other things like this.

Not really (I'm assuming you were serious). For a three use only tool, how much do you think they could charge someone to 'unlock' their armour to sell on? We are talking millions. I think that makesa happy Armoursmith. ![]()
If it did not have a limited use, then it would render bio-linking in the game useless. You see?
