After publish, made me a new armor/clothing crafting tool, pulled out my crafting droid, stood by a public crafting station, and cannot craft any advanced armor items like composite... what's the deal...

step away from the public station.

Not all crafting stations share space well. To craft composite, requires a private crafting station, and the public station is probably over-riding the private station in your droid.

Also make sure your droid has the clothing/armor crafting module. it should now list when you examine your droid in your datapad.
