Thread: Stratics Chat Was a WHIFF

Ladies and Gentlemen:

It's nice to see exactly the extent to which our concerns have been addressed by the devs in the Stratics chat yesterday:

NOT AT ALL

After probably a sum total of about a thousand posts all decrying a crafting system that threatens a massive financial hit to current armorsmiths, and a general gimping of the profession as a whole, obviating the chance of differentiating your product in any way, the devs response?

Here it is:

[imagine a lone cricket, chirping away in the dark silence]

It's so nice to see precisely how much our concerns weigh in their thinking: They don't at all.

I'm still holding out hope that SOE will remove their anteriors from their posteriors before the CURB goes live, or at least shortly thereafter, but to utterly ignore our compaints is making an implicit statement, and this is what I believe their thinking is: "Someone's going to get rogered by this new combat system. It's going to be the Armorsmiths."

I don't know about the rest of you, but I expect alot of retirements post-CURB, myself included.

I stand corrected: There was one thing that the Stratics chat informed us of:

Keldarin - Armor of the same category with different appearances will have the same stats. Armor category cores are created which define the stats regardless of the actual appearance they are placed in.

That's just great: The profession is even dumber than we thought. We are now glorified Tailors!

Kiss me.
Take me out to dinner.
Take me to a movie.

It's customary to do those things first.

The dev in HoC chat last night said:

<@Rogue_5> We are not seeing that level of aversion to the communicated (CU) changes. What has actually been pleasantly surprising is that the in-game exit polls and the forum polls have continued to move to the positive every day. It appears that most of what was driving the negativity at first was just that it was a 'change' to the current game-play systems that we all know so well.

Checking today's daily In Testing Forum polling of 610 players, 74% chose 1-Poor as their response to "How would you rate your Combat Upgrade game-play experience last night?".

Have the offices of SOE been infiltrated by some weird cult, or are they just really that bad at lying?

This is the greatest case of false advertising I've seen since I sued the movie The Never Ending Story.

Do you know how bad you have to screw up to get computer nerds to leave a Star Wars game?

This is just my opinion it is not based on any documentation that i am aware of:

I think SOE is the problem, I belive that the corporate entity of SOE sent down a mandate to the Dev's and are basicly forcing them to to change SWG into a more standardized mmorpg in order to:

1.make it easy for people toplay multiple mmorpg's (i.e more money for SOE and the other companys)

2. share resources accross muliple games (i.e less money SOE has to spend in support and development)

The ENTIRE Stratics Chat was an attempt to make the CURB look good, and to promote how awesome RotW will be.

Right. Can we get some CONSTRUCTIVE questions to be answered, please?

Corporate Stooge guide 101: Never, ever acknowledge that things are going bad. Things are ALWAYS better. Steadfastly ignore all data to the contrary. Remember: the bigger the lie, the more the public will believe it. For reference model: see Iraqi Information Minister.

DING! DING! DING! We have a winner!
It is clear that an 'executive decision' has been made regarding SWG.

Brannoc - *Kampher* Are we going to be able to switch between the old and new interface? Many people dont like the new icons, and would like to switch back to the old ones. Will this be possible?

yea, was at the HoC, the best part about that "No" was it was posted almost instantly after the question was asked, didn't even pause to think about giving a less abrassive answer.
