What's a non-layed segment??? Would it be a Krayt segment that layers made into a core?

Layered segments are segments crafted with additional crafted components (layers) that have rediculously rare resources to create.

Anything you loot will obviously be unlayered because the segements are step 1 in making a suit of armor. (Unless of course your making layers, then it becomes step 2)
