Firstly let me start by appologising for what I am about to ask, I did look at the "read these links before posting" but it all went over my head.

My problem is that I do not understand what to do to make armor.

I looked into Bone armour, but I do not know what resources I need and where to get them from.

Can anyone give me a clue.

Thanks

I'm not sure what you mean. You made it to novice armorsmith so you obviously understand the crafting process. In your signature, you say you sell resources so I assume you know how to survey and mine stuff from the ground. You get the hide and bone you need from players with scout and ranger skills who can harvest the creatures they kill. The fiberplast panels are made by someone with domestic arts 1 in the artisan branch. Reinforced fiber panels are made by tailors with field wear three. Synthetic cloth (used in other armors) is made by someone with novice tailor.

If you want to make suits of bone armor, you'll need to make battle armor cores. To make cores, you have to start with segments. You'll need to make a factory run of battle armor segments first. You don't need to worry about adding layers to these. You'll need 10 steel, 5 aluminum, 15 polymer, and 5 wooly hide for each segment you want to make. Every core takes three segments.

Why do I say you need to make these in a factory? Because the main armor pieces (helmet, leggings, chest) require factory-made cores, and each core you make in the factory will require you to use identical components to make a schematic. The only way to make identical components (defined as having the same serial number) is to use a factory. Do you know how to make a schematic and operate a factory or do we need to cover that?

Once you have the segments, it's time to make cores. At novice you can only make basic armor cores. As you advance, you'll be able to make standard and then advanced cores. Higher level cores require more specific resources and more resources overall. For your basic cores, you'll need 30 hide, 30 fiberplast, 30 metal, and 25 gemstone for each core along with three segments. Along the way, you'll see that your crafting tool has slots for optional components. Don't worry about these. You don't need them. Make a schematic for your cores and run them in factory.

NOTE: You could make the bracers and biceps completely by hand if you wanted because they don't need factory components. You can make three segments by hand, and then use them to create one core. Arm pieces only take one core to make. In fact, you should probably make some of these for practice if you want to see the armor crafting process from start to finish.

Once you have armor cores, you can make the final piece of armor. You'll need bone and metal along with fiberplast panels and reinforced fiber panels.

On which steps would you like more details?

Thanks, Its the segments that I do not understand how to make, last night when I acheived the status I clicked on my trusty Armour crafting device and thought I'll start with some gloves (start easy and work up), I had the bone and steel required but there was about 8 other boxes that I had no clue what to fill with,

I can't remember it giving me the chance to make segments, perhaps I am missing something, or are segments only available to a mchine, in which case where can i get them, can i craft it or do i need an architect or the bazaar?

Cheers

Well, gloves and boots are not really armor any more. They are purely decorative. I don't think you even get armorsmith experience for making them. Plus they only have four slots you have to fill in the crafting tool. Now the real pieces of armor (everything but the boots and gloves) have one slot for a core, two slots for resources, two slots for cloth, and three slots for optional enhancers (all currently broken). You don't have to fill the optional slots.

Maybe it was a bicep cover or something then, but the way you explained it sounds familiar, Its how i create the core that I am strugleing with, if the other bits don't need filling then as soon as I can make core and get fibreplast I should be away.

you also did not answer my question on the machines

Thanks

By machine I believe you mean factory. No, you do not need a factory to make just one segment. Check the list of schematics you crafting tool gives you. Look for "armor segments."

Once you find the segments, make three battle segments. Then use the segments to make a basic battle core. Then you will be able to make a bicep or bracer using that core.

Factories are made by architects. They cost approximately 40k on Scylla. Each one takes up one lot, costs 50 credits an hour in maintenanc, and uses 50 units of power each hour but only when it is making something. You will need a factory to make the identical cores required for chest plates, helmets, and leggings.

I believe your problem is that you are not standing near an armor crafting station. Boots are complexity 15 I think, which only requires your armor or generic crafting tool. Segments and cores are complexity 21, which require the specialized armor crafting tool AND a public crafting station (or better). So try standing next to one of those and run your armor tool, you should then see the segment and core options. You can even buy an armor crafting station and put it in your house, or if you live in a player city there is probably one in a guild hall or something.
