Trying to make Personal Shields Mk3 and can't seem to be able to get any kinetics protection made into a unit. How can I make a unit that gives kinetic protection? Thanks!

Shields are flakey. Sometimes they display kinetic %, sometimes they don't. It is a known error.

It's a stupid bug thats been there for months. Wish it would get fixed. Causes me many headaches trying to convince customers i'm not selling them defective crap.

How do you get around it ?

Other than telling them to buy 6 and use the best one at the time I don't know a way to get them to change and stay for an (at least short) while - the only way i've seen to modify them is to move off server (taking off and on again doesnt affect them) and thats a bit expensive jetting around with shuttles trying to get the optium armour setup.

That is why I never even try to sell them. I just make them for myself and my guildmates.

All this has been posted b'fore, but I'll save ya some search'in.

PSG's are basically worn on yer belt/waist. Examine them carefully and you'll see what and how much they supposed ta protect you against. Usually they have a primary( like energy) and some if not all secondaries. All ya gotta do , theoretically, is equip it and it's on all the time.

BUT, there's some bugs,.and ya gotta be all attentive with'em now. Everytime you take a shuttle or log, the secondaries will shift around, not the values, mind you,..just what they protect against.

For example,..Suppose ya gots a PSG with 30%energy for primary/special protect, and 6% everything else/secondary. Sounds cool, right? Take a shuttle and boom! NOw ya gots a 30&energy special/primary and 6% for just acid/elec/ and cold. Take another shuttle and boom! Back to normal. As ya can see, the numbers won't change, but what the secondaries, Not Primaries, protect will.

This can be advantagous in a way. Ya buy a cheap PSG that only protects a few secondaries, take a shuttle , and now ya got a full protect PSG. The primaries never seem to be messed with, so least ya can feel confident about that. People carry around two PSG sometimes , so when they do shift, least they'll one of them should fit the job.

So, things to remember when us'in these puppies.

Always un-equip and re-equip them before a fight, sometimes they won't remember you are wear'in it. Look at your combat window, you'll get a message like, Your MK2 has absorbed 56 damage or whatever, if it is working right.

PSG's get beat up fast. Keep an eye on it's condition, if it gets real low, the stats will lower too. They can be repaired or if they cheap enough, just get more.

Examine your PSG after shuttles and logs. Make sure it still has the protections ya need, i.e. if yer fighitng monsters you'llprolly want Kinetic, npc's maybe ya want energy, which is prolly the primary anyways and won't change.

Hope this helps some.

PSG's have no vulnerabilites at all. All marks protect against everything, but again half the time the protections will have shifted to vulnerabilites. I just keep several with me and use the one that dosen't suck at the time. Its a very old issue that has basicly been met with a "its hard" response from the DEV's. One more thing, the system loses track of your wearing shields a lot, so before each fight I unequip mine and reequip it to make sure it registers. Again this is an old issue, but armorsmiths don't get fixes. Shields can make a huge difference in a fight if they are working, but they wear out fast and have so many bugs its almost not worth it. The 52% energy resist mrkIII's I make help nicely went fighting NPC's, but its not cool when suddenly they stop working for no good reason.

On thing I did notice about them, is that 'forgetting they are on' thing seems to always happen when you have been incapped and get back up.

I always hotkey one or two of them.

Also, the damage they prevent is before your armor, so they protect your armor.
