The survey droid is like the BH tracking droid.They have x amount of charges.But depending in how the DE experiments with them depends on how long they take to survey.The once we played with went like this....
1st set.All Exp. on charges.Time to survey 50 min.
2nd set.2pts of Exp. on Time rest on charges. 45 min.
3rd set. all Exp. on time 25 min.
The droid send Email to you after time is up.look just like when you flip on your survey tool.
Another important thing is that everytime you send a droid it eats 1 survey tool.So if you plan on send 5 droids you need 5 survey tools in your inventory.
2nd tool. Harvest Module.
This one is neat too.you program what resouces to harvest and program what word/command to use.You have to have creature targeted and give command and the droid will walk/roll over and get resouces its programed for.From what I have seen it harvests at Novice Scout lvl.There is a harvest bonus but not sure if bringing up the number will produce more hides/meat/bone when harvesting.He just made a quicky to try out.
So thats what I gathered from the 30-45 min I played with new stuff.
Add what I may have left out ot forgotten.

Can you have your droid harvest the creature and then harvest yourself for more resources overall than if you just harvested without the droid?

No, either you harvest or your droid does...you cant double-harvest.
