I'm looking to put together a real good set of armor made up of NS Armor Shards and Krayt stuff but I have a few questions on the restrictions such as how many does each piece of armor use and can you use both types?
I have been unable to locate a website that really breaks down how it works, atleast to my level of understanding(non-armorsmith). If you have a good site I can could go to or lay down a good description for me I would appreciate it.
Cheers,

Riho,
While I don't have experience with Krayt, anything, I did recently make a set of Kinetic Composite using Nightsister Armor Shards. For my experiences check out http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=armorsmith&message.id=56879
Hope that helps to some degree.

Just for clarification, you can't use NS shards and Krayt stuff in the same piece. Krayt segments preclude the use of any layers or enchanements. NS shards and Krayt scales are both segment enchancers for which there is only one slot. You have to pick, can't have both. You can use NS layers and krayt scales in the same peice, but not shards. One more thing, krayt scales more all the resists they raise from the base into the special protecion line, so if you use a scale you have to hope for an encum slice as a effec slice will do jack (I may be wrong, and if I am someone will correct me, but as I recall all Krayt scales left in the base was restraint, which has become lightsaber and moved to a vulnerability, so using a krayt scale would leave nothing in the general protection line).
I would recommend NS shards and NS layers for a nice suit of armor. The shards give reduced encum, and the layers add to the base without moving any resists. I recently made a NS suit for myself, and even though I got effec slices on the chest helm and leggings, the entire suit had lower HAM then my old suit that had encum slices on the chest helm and leggings.
