That will work... Myself I use higher base layers for my kinetic comp... I use 64-65% quality layers with the rest into Ham... Aprox 3.5-3.6% base per layer... The Kinetic with my resources is aprox 4.4-4.5% @ 24-25%... Makes for 31% base 13% Kinetic 8% Elec Segment... Just another aproach you may or may not be able to duplicate based on experiment points and your resources...

Gonna be playing around with kinetic/elect mix and seeing what I can do with that to get the elct up a little higher... Hoping the ham cost isn't too high... I like my sub-600 ham comp...

You need to make a pair of unlayered gloves to find out your "base" base on your armor. Personally, you'll probably need to use the second set to get a reasonable base on your armor and to hit 80% kinetic. Best of luck to you.

Hi All

Ive just Mastered AS and am beginning the long learning process. Im starting with Kinetic Protection Layers. Of the following, what layer would you use and why ? (also are they any good ??)

make a few of each and use them to craft segs to see what results you get using your resources when crafting some gloves

I do a couple different thing with Kinetic Layers...

for Ubese I max the Experimental Effectivenessand try to get the Kinetic resist on the layers to 13%+ and then dump my remaining point into HAM reduction (Durability) The 13% goal is based on some good resources. If you are just starting off and can only hit 11%, you may still be able to hit into the mid to high 60% range on your final ubese kinetic resists. If you price these right, you should sell them briskly until you can get better resources.

for 80% Kinetic composite I throw 3 pts to Effectiveness, 2 pts to Quality and the rest to Durability. I am going for reduced HAM, not high base. The method of experimenting for base described above is prefered by many. My method generally yeilds me 8% kinetic 2%(and the unknown decimal) base and HAM cost in the 7/7/7 range. Once you get to the segments, dump all into base (Quality) then left over into HAM (Durability). The segment comes out 30% base, 21% kinetic, going from memory so not sure on the HAM. With the armor piece experimentation, experiement Quality until you hit around 61% base, then toss a point to Durability. Your Kinetic should magically jump to 80%. If you are low, you can throw another point or 2 into Quality. For me this results in a set of armor with 80% Kinetic 75%+ Electric 61% Base and a total HAM cost of around 550/500/550.

I consider these purely PvE sets. If you want to go for more of a crossover into PvP, then you should experiment for Base as described by other respondents above.

All relative...these views are not those of SOE (thank goodness) and imply no corporate affiliation...blah, blah, blah!

Tadpole,

You are probably wasting points in Kinetic (for Composite Armor). There is no reason that you should need 21% Kinetic on30% base segments. I use 26% Base/19% Kinetic segments and I hit 80% Kinetic easily with base in the low 60's. Start making 2/6 layers (don't waste a point in base if you're at 2% at combine) and spend even more points on HAM reduction and you'll get much lighter armor with the same 80% Kinetic resist. If you have the resources for it I'm thinking you should be able to hit 2/6 layers with 3/3/3 or 4/4/4 HAM on the layers. A significant improvement. Try some gloves and let me know how it works.Regards.

well, I am a new AS too and i was able to get 80% kinetic and 67% base out of my layers on my first composite suit =), what you need to do is to fill the middle line which affects base, as much as you can, then with the rest of your points hit the bottom/kinetic resist line.

base should be about 4% and kinetic 5%, the HAM and integ will suffer, but with out 12 pts what's a noob to do =)

That technique did the trick for me anyways

Damast, you should be able to hit 80% kin without going up to 5% kin on your layers(Three 4% kin/4% base should do it). I know 12+67 doesn't add up to 80 but there are hidden decimals there. You can probably spend that last point in durability to get the HAM down and the condition up.

you need to specify

these would be udder crap in ubese (uses kinetic layers too)

So you are suggesting I hit 6% Kinetic in the layers and put the rest in Durability. Then for the segs push all to Quality and remaining to Durability?

Always looking to improve....I will play around with it. Thanks.
