Thread: Padded Armor Question from a newbie smith

The best padded armor I can seem to make is 51% base. If I wanted to make kinetic padded, would I just experiment up the layers to max kinetic? I haven't had good results so far by experimenting the HAM on the layers then the base resist on the segment as is recommended in the guide I am then concerned about the HAM cost of the resulting armor. I have great resources, most are the best ever to spawn with the exception of my scaley hide and components for the adv padded segment. Am I just going to be stuck making high HAM armor, or do I need to just wait for better components for the adv padded segment? ALso another item that might be relevant - I am just a 10 point smith.

Maxing kin on your two layers should get you 29 extra kin points. Use your leftpver points on base for the layers. That should get you to 80 kin or close. I make 80/51 on ahazi this way. Being a 10-pointer will not hurt you much from getting the resists you want (extra points could go into base on the layers), but it will prevent you from lightening the armor during the segment and final combine stage.

Yavin wool is the major pain, since it is rarely good and is the main seg ingredient. Cubirian steel is rare as well. We are enjoying our first good yavin wool on ahazi at the moment, and that has made a large difference in my padded. I was hitting 76ish kin using the best ever spawns of everything else, but now hit 80 even with lesser versions of some of the primary ingredients.

My result was 43/44 base and 71/72 kinetic. I don't think I can do any better til I get better components for the adv padded segment.
