When LS damage came out there were a flurry of posts about tantel resisting LS. This turned out to be a display error. It was proved over and over by people checking their combat logs while dueling Jedi. Now, supposedly crated tantel will resist LS damage when you take it out of the crate until server reset. Haven't tried it myself so I don't know if this really works.

The lightsaber protection does wear off in time..maybe when the server does reset it looses the stat..but when i make tantel and put it in my vendor.. it keeps the lightsaber dmg stat.. but when i keep the armor outside the vendor in packs.. i see that eventually it looses the lightsaber stat. maybe the lightsaber dmg has a decay time to it. Maybe keeping the tantel in vendors is like holding it in limbo so it wont be affected.

has there ever been a real answer as to whether LS resists on tantel and especially PSG are actually meant to be there and work? Or are they both bugged and Lightsaber is supposed to be unresistable?

PSGs are the only thing that are supposed to resist LS and they work as far as I know. The older PSGs - pre jedi revamp, don't include LS resist, because the damage type didn't exist when they were made. The new ones work though.
Tantel is not supposed to.

Tantel does resist saber damage the day its crafted. It doesn't resist much though (usually 10-11 points) on 23% base tantel.
