Thread: Drumming up sales, post CU
- getting HAM 5 points lower (to all pools) than nearest competitor
- preslicing, having 90% base peices and cheap low HAM sets
- quad 80's, triple 80's and new combinations that other smiths didn't have
- 41%+ stun
- Large Variety of Wookiee armor consantly stocked
- decent stock of RIS on vendors
- high kinetic padded
- the list goes on
- once you hit the unlayered caps, your stuff is the same as everyone else
- quad layered is relatively close to everyone else
- RIS is everywhere
- all the BH have 1-2 suits of BH armor

Ahh, the good old days...
I remember the first day I hit triple 80. Dang, that felt good!

Nowadays, I just keep my vendors stocked with a huge variety of BLACK Armor. LOL
Other than that, there's really not much else to do besides educating newb and taking custom orders.
Presliced sells very well for me too.
I've only tried it a few times, but they sold out fast every time I did.

Health enhanced armor. You want to stand out and be different. Start pumping out health enhanced armor as often as possible and people will always be at your doorstep....the real question is, do you want them there?![]()
How, simple economics bud...lower your prices if you want to sell carbon copy armor. If you want to make lifelong customers you have only one way to do it; SERVICE. No more of the days of ...
Random Noob - /tell Armorsmith Hello, can you make me some armor please?
Armorsmith - /reply Check my vendors at 1234 4321 outside Theed.
You want to compete for return business in the high money stuff you have to serve your customers, not serve your wallet. I can no longer claim to know half the people coming into my shop. I have 5-10 a day sometimes that only come to me because one of my customers told them about me. I don't cap armor, I don't do UBER +350 health suits, so why do people always come back to me? Service my friend, I make them feel engaged. I ask their opinions on colors and build them a suit around their toon, not around my schedule.
Sadly not everyone can do this. Some do not have the time, others not the patience, but they all will have to do it now. Just the way of the world now I guess.

You know Heciv I am actually the opposite. I spend all my time on my AS now and rarely get a chance to use my BH. Sadly for all you folks it may end up being the way of the future. Without the leftover recolorfixfor composite and the fact that money is so much easier to come by as a combat profession the days of carbon copied armor every 5 houses may be numbered. People now want a thought out design or special colors. And with the custom only issue of colors they have gotten used to it being so.
We may see people now being much more in demand, and thus higher paid, if they work in custom. And I dare guess that it was exactly what the Devs had in mind making these changes. They did not plan for, nor want, there to be only one type and one stat armor. I know you are thinking that now it is even more about one stat type but that is ridiculous. Now with the way armor protects and with the way it decays it is no longer all about the 80% composite. You have as good a chance of surviving with a 6800 suit as you do a 7000. Capped armor is all about government spending, "why buy 6800 for 300k when you can buy 7000 for 800k?"
There will always be a market for these suits but not like there once was. With the difference in percentage of damage stopped being so very little when comparing a suit that is easily made to 6600-6700 and one that is capped at 7000 we may find ourselves hard pressed to be able to charge more for them beyond as an oddity or "bragging rights" thing.
Don't get me wrong, I am not saying I hate capped armor. I am just saying that with their new system it no longer represents a monumental difference when getting a suit 100-200 points better or worse. I can fight a mob wearing my 5044 as easily as wearing my 5876 suit. So paying that much extra just for an extra 124 points is pretty foolish on my part.....
Yeah I hear you. I actually have to be very selective about who I work with. So many people want only to use your generosity to line their pockets.

I should say that I went from preCU 5% custom order 95% vendor sales to about 60% special order 40% vendor sales now.
I am burnt out of all the special orders and lack of gratitude from a lot of the customers. I will continue to do special orders, but it has gotten to the point where if I do not know you, you will have to pay a rediculous amount of money to get me to do a custom job for you unless I have tons of time or are in a good mood.
I would like to go back to more of a vendor smith, but I also do not want to stock the same thing as everyone else.
To those still reading, I think that the mall I stock in draws tons of people in. I am there with 5 other armorsmiths and we have about 15 armor vendors between all of us.
After I do my presliced RIS (75% AB + energy layers) I think I will do a run of junk primus layered RIS. On our server no one has good gravatronic and neutronium sells 50-125cpu for good stuff. I have junk neutronium and gravatronic that with the other three resources good could prob get my primus layers up to 6300 or so. I sell enough 6k RIS that 6300 should be great and it shouldn't cost too much more to produce either (will prob do 12 runs of layers and make 1k cores)
